- The hunt for a missing suspect takes an unexpected turn.
- November 20 & 21.
When Lund thinks her internal investigation over Meyer's death is finished, she is taken by Bülow to the Russian ship where Leon is found hanged. In his pocket a receipt was found from a gas-station distant 30 km from the storage house -- thus making him not guilty of killing Meyer.
The Birk Larsens discuss about moving to the new house considering the refusal of their son Anton -- all while he plays with Vagn downstairs toying an electronic car, Vagn's gift. Anton tells Vagn about the blood-stained passport of Nanna he has found in the basement of the new house, but asks Vagn not to tell his parents. Nevertheless Vagn tells them, with Theis totally denying the possibility, while Pernille tending to believe.
After talking with Morten, right before the TV debate, Hartmann accuses Rie of lying about Dessau and of her involvement in the cover up relating to the flat. During the debate with reciprocal accusations from Bremer and Hartmann, Bremer collapses from a stroke and is taken to a hospital.
The internal investigation continues, and after listening to Meyer's voice-recording on his own cell-phone right before he was shot and presenting the statement of Meyer's widow about his last words ("Sara... Sara"), Bülow officially declares Lund suspect for killing Meyer, putting her in custody and ordering the search of her home. Permissed to make one call, Lund phones to Bengt for help.
Rie continues to deny Hartmann's suspicions about her relations with Dessau (sacked already by Bremer), as well about the party flat and the videotape.
Lund is released when her advocate presents to Bülow and Brix a psychological report stating she is paranoid and potentially suicidal in custody; still she remains suspended from work. She asks Brix to receive at least the inventory list from the warehouse, but gets it by messenger only outside in her car, where Bengt confesses he faked the report and it could be soon discovered. He also presents a pathological report of Leon's body, which probably proves he didn't hang himself. Before Bengt leaves Lund asks him to find the students who lived with Mette Hauge 15 years ago.
The Birk Larsens fail to find the passport their son Anton claims was in the basement of the new house.
Lund visits Hanne, Meyer's widow, who tells her that Mayer's last words were a repetition of 'Sara' and '84'.
Brix tells Hartmann that Rie belatedly forwarded the security videotape she had to the police; also there was a clean up at the flat.
Lund meets Martin Pauludan, Mette's partner in student apartments; she learns from him that before they slept shortly together, Mette threw away her too possessive friend. From the car Lund reports Brix about the meeting, but ignores his demands to come to the the police HQ; instead she insists he has to find the photo of the tenth class missing from Nanna's album found in the storage house. Lund hears from Brix that Nanna's passport was found in Leon's yard.
In the evening at their apartment Birk Larsens are preparing their family meeting. Later, bringing her son Anton from his after-school activities Pernille tells him about the renewing of the basement in the new house, while Anton still insists about Nanna's passport which was taken out from there "to make his parents happy". Reaching the office at home Pernille leaves a phone message to the stationery company whose delivery job was annulled by her worker, asking them to call back for to solve the misunderstanding.
Hartmann visits the party flat where he finds the plumber finishing the replacement of the jammed toilet bowl. He tells him he was there already on Saturday at 8 am in order to replace the bowl (annulation reached him only on Monday), but the "cleaners" in the flat wouldn't let him in.
Lund comes to the basement of the new house and asks Vagn various questions about Leon, notices the basement has been relined. Finally he tells her the family is tired of police questions and just before closing the place he puts on an old tracksuit from the Sarajevo '84 Olympics (the "jevo" part of the text is somewhat shadowed). Vagn notices her realization, but after a tense stand-off allows her to leave. Lund breaks into the house after Vagn leaves.
