After reading a comment saying that this is the worst film ever (it is not, I've seen "worst-er" films), I am compelled to defend "Go Go G-Boys," a very crappy Taiwanese film. Talentless actors, lousy plot, shaky, grainy camera. I'm totally digging it.
Perhaps it's because of all the "serious" films we've been watching that this fun brainless comedy, transcending language, got to me. I normally prefer "intellectual" sardonic humor and I normally don't laugh during movies, especially those by Jim Carey/Adam Sandler/Stephen Chow but the absolute silliness of the film makes me lol! And to spot the postmodernism of this pastiche film--with references to R+J, My Beautiful Laundrette, Lord of the Ring, Waterboys, Brokeback Mountain--is, well, fun. Besides, it doesn't hurt to have cute actors, even if they cannot act. The film could be shorter by 10 minutes though, cutting away the emo-emo scenes.
The film markets itself as "Miss Congeniality" meets "Formula 17." Both of these movies are fun, brainless movie, so you should be expecting the same for "Go Go G-boys." A good movie to laugh at for its silliness, not a good one for critics.
