- When in Rome, do as the Romans do -- and film a commercial in Italian.
- It's Rome time for the remaining six. How do you say "catfight" in Italian?
Anya says she's never been abroad, which is odd because she sounds like an alien.
Then she face-plants getting off the bus, but springs back up.
Whitney mentions again that she's made it further than any other plus-size model so far.
They get Tyra Mail from a bus driver directing them to their new home. It has an indoor pool.
Fatima says she's not feeling well and goes to bed. Dominique says she doesn't think Fatima has it. Anya brings Fatima chicken in bed.
The next day, Lauren wakes the girls up noisily getting ready. Whitney says she thinks Lauren is "over" the competition.
Tyra Mail: "Be careful how you roll, you'll miss the beauty of Rome."
Anya exclaims: "We're going to be on the river!"
Um, right.
They meet with someone from the designer Mottiolo, who gives them all Segways on which they tool around town as he points out various Italian women's clothing.
They go to meet the designer Gai Mottiolo. But first someone in the studio tells them they'll be trying to dress Italian. Make-over time.
Then they meet Gai (that's pronounced "Guy").
Fatima walks for him, despite not feeling well, and he says she's elegent. He says Dominique walks well, but doesn't look "fresh." He likes Katarzyna and appears to praise Anya for being "young, skinny and fresh." He likes Whitney's face and manages not to scream at Lauren's robo-walk.
He was one dress for the winner: Anya.
Whitney seeths.
Back at the apartment it's Tyra Mail time. Shockingly, they manage to translate "Facile, Brezza, Bella" to "Easy, Breezy, Beautiful," the Cover Girl slogan. Six models: Three translated words.
Lauren stresses, saying she's not Cover Girl material, apparently forgetting that's part of the winner's package.
The next day.
They arrive at the shoot and are greeted by Jay Manuel. He tells them they have a chance to film a commercial for a new Cover Girl product. And, as they guessed, it'll be in Italian.
They get made up and practice their Italian.
The director gives them direction. Three walk and stops with lines. Anya is worried about having to walk and use lipstick at the same time.
Anya goes first and the crew cracks up at her mangling of the language. Katarzyna is next and sounds much better, but sort of bored. Domnique follows and makes up words that sounds vaguely Italian. She manages to make Lauren look good by comparison.
Lauren botches it, curses and comes across like a made-up corpse. Jay says it was "hard to watch." The director says Fatima's pronunciation was the best and she's a "goddess." Whitney comes across as "fake" and "disingenuous" according to Jay.
The shoot over, they head home for more Tyra Mail, telling them someone is going home tomorrow. Lauren thinks her time might be up and there's a "strong possibility" she's out. Whitney sulks.
Judging time. Tyra starts by recapping her Italian modeling experience and trying out her fake Italian accent. It's not much better than any of her any other fake accents.
They watch their best takes. Fatima is first and gets positive reviews. Whitney is next. Paulina says it's fake from beginning to end and does an accurate but not flattering Whitney impression. Tyra says it might have been a little over the top but, shocker, she liked it (what? Tyra like something over-the-top? no!!!). The poor director cringes at having to watch Anya again. Tyra says it was mostly a piece of "dookie," which she doesn't translate into Italian.
Dominique appears to be performing a nonsense comedy routine. Even she laughs. Tyra calls it "hoochified." Paulina says she was scared.
Then they watch Lauren, who looks like she might have had a gun held on her from off-camera. Paulina says she was afraid Lauren would do something like that. Katarzyna is next and starts with a recap of how to pronounce her name, calling out Tyra. Paulina says she seems far more comfortable than everybody else.
They discuss. They're stuck on Lauren, who has had great pictures but no personality or grace on camera. They agree Dominique was hilarious, but not for the right reasons.
Verdict time: Fatima, Katarzyna, Anya and Dominique.
That leaves Lauren and Whitney. Tyra tells Whitney she takes good pictures, but the judges can't get past her phoniness. She tells Lauren that she was dreadful and it seems like she gave up, even though she takes some of the best pictures.
Lauren's out; Whitney stays.
Lauren cries. Tyra tells her: "Maybe you're just that model that's a silent movie actress; America's Next Top Model has to talk."
Lauren goes back to pack. "I know I did a crappy job, but it sucks to see yourself do so bad and you're embarrassed. The whole point of me coming to America's Next Top Model was to challenge myself. It was scary at first, but I grew to like it. Now I see two sides of Lauren: the punk Lauren and the dolled-up Lauren. Before I never even wanted to model and now my mind's completely changed and I really think I have a chance to have a future in it... I already feel like I've accomplished a lot."
