Warning: Spoilers
This is episode 7 from the long running police drama "THE LINEUP. The series ran 190 plus episodes between 1954-60. It was also called San Francisco Beat during reruns.

It is the middle of the night and a large sedan pulls up on a bridge somewhere in San Francisco. Three men carry a body to the rails and drop him over. They then jump in their car and high tail it.

There is a witness. Junius Matthews. The hobo had been catching some sleep under the bridge when the stiff hit the ground. He had then looked up out of the dark and saw the three men.

Matthews goes to the cops with his story. It turns out the stiff was a S.F.P. detective on an undercover assignment. He had been trying to set up a $10.000 drug buy.

The boys in blue pull out all the stops to catch the three. Warner Anderson and Tom Tulley draw the case. Matthews goes through the mug books and identifies one of the gents. The detective go through the known associates files and come up with more leads.

They catch a break when one of the three ends up in the morgue. It seems the boys have had a falling out over the cop killing. They back track from the body and collar a second killer. He gives up the name of the third killer.

They stake out the bar they know this swine frequents and wait to see what happens. The man, Ted Hecht, shows and our detectives put a not so friendly grab on the man.

This is a straight up and by the numbers police procedural. The director was Earl Bellamy. Bellamy directed over 1600 TV episodes! The screenplay was by none other than, Blake Edwards. The D of P was Nick Musuraca. We all know his work which includes, THE BLUE GARDENIA, THE HITCH-HIKER, SPLIT SECOND, BLOOD ON THE MOON, ROAD BLOCK, THE WHIP HAND, FALLEN SPARROW, THE 7th VICTIM, GHOST SHIP, THE SPIRAL STAIRCASE, DEADLINE AT DAWN, THE LOCKET and of course, OUT OF THE PAST.

An excellent way to use 25 mins in my opinion!
