Marie Curie (1867-1934) was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1903, and the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1911. She is the first person and only woman to receive two Nobel Prizes; only four people have received two Nobel Prizes.
This is the 200th episode of Murdoch Mysteries.
After Marie Curie signs Inspector Brackenreid's autograph book, he tells Ernest Rutherford to "come and see me after you've won a Nobel Prize." Ernest Rutherford (1871-1937) was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1908 (this episode is set in late 1907); furthermore, he was knighted in 1914. Additionally, Albert Einstein (1879-1955) was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1921.
The majority of the historical figures in this episode have appeared in previous episodes of the series, and were played by the same actors reprising their roles. However, this was not the case for the character of Harry Houdini. In this episode he was played by Grisha Pasternak, while in the character's previous appearance in Houdini Whodunit (2009), Houdini was played by Joe Dinicol.
Constable Higgins tells Henry Ford that he invented the rear-view mirror, although in Toronto the Bad (2019) (S.13, Ep 7), Murdoch seemingly invents it. However, it was first described in 1906 (Murdoch Mysteries is now in late 1907), and patented in France that same year.
