Regardless of how you feel about horror anthology films, it’s obvious that they aren’t going anywhere. And why would they? The format allows for nascent filmmakers to flex their chops on a short segment before feeling the pressure of a full feature; and given that the short story is the most prominent and effective form of horror (just look at the masters: Poe, Lovecraft, Matheson), it also provides the opportunity to experience these tales visually without stretching them thin to reach standard film length. It’s like reading a literary magazine from cover to cover: different styles, different effects, different scares. I’m all for it.

Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson has signed on to join the Stephen Sommers' adaptation of Dean Koontz's bestselling novel "Odd Thomas" at Fusion Films reports Variety.
The story follows Odd Thomas (Anton Yelchin), an optimistic clairvoyant short-order cook who can see shadowy figures called 'bodachs' that appear around death and disaster. When bodachs seem to be swarming around a diner customer he nicknames 'Fungus Man', Odd is convinced the man is connected to a terrible catastrophe about to occur.
Jackson will play Shamus Cocobolo, a blind deejay who helps the titular hero. Addison Timlin, Willem Dafoe, Patton Oswalt, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Nico Tortorella co-star. Shooting kicks off imminently in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

We’ve learned of another addition to the cast of Odd Thomas, Stephen Sommers‘ film adaptation of the Dean Koontz novel of the same name. Joining the current lineup of actors is Gugu Mbatha-Raw, who’s probably best known for starring in the former J.J. Abrams TV series Undercovers.
Variety says that the actress will be in a supporting role, as the friend of Addison Timlin‘s character Stormy Llewellyn, who is the girlfriend of Anton Yelchin’s Thomas. The character is described as being “Viola, a waitress who raises two young girls after their junkie mother dies.” The scope of the part is unclear, although it seems like it won’t be the biggest of roles.
Mbatha-Raw will also be appearing in Larry Crowne, the upcoming film directed by and starring Tom Hanks. This film, meanwhile, is produced by Fusion Films and is being helmed in the writing and directing department by Sommers,...

It is obvious that Stephen Sommers has not yet filled out the list of actors for his new thriller Odd Thomas. It’s actually loaded with Gugu Mbatha-Raw for supporting role in a feature that is based on the adaptation of Dean Koontz’s best-seller novel.
As already announced Anton Yelchin is in the role of the hero, short-order cook who meets a mysterious man endowed with the capacity to communicate with the dark forces. Addison Timlin starring his girlfriend, whose best friend Viola is the character played by newcomer Mbatha-Raw. Timlin is going to be a waitress, which raises two young girls whose mother died of drug-related causes.
The actor who is engaged before Mbatha-Raw is slapstick comedian Patton Oswalt, and he joined in the role of eccentric artists. Scream 4 star Nico Tortorella and Willem Dafoe, an actor from Spider Man 2002 are also in negotiations to join the cast.

Comedian Patton Oswalt ("Ratatoulle," "United States of Tara") has joined the cast of Stephen Sommers' adaptation of Dean Koontz's bestselling novel "Odd Thomas" for Fusion Films reports Variety.
The story follows Odd Thomas (Anton Yelchin), an optimistic twenty-year-old short-order cook who can see both dead people and the shadowy figures called 'bodachs' that appear around death and disaster. When bodachs seem to be swarming around a diner customer he nicknames 'Fungus Man', Odd is convinced the man is connected to a terrible catastrophe about to occur.
Oswalt will play Oswald "Ozzie" P. Boone, an eccentric artist who designs sculptures, including a steel pendant that the titular clairvoyant hero wears around his neck.
Willem Dafoe, Addison Timlin and Nico Tortorella are also in talks to join the cast. Shooting kicks off next month in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Nico Tortorella is probably best known from Scream 4, but he’ll soon become famous as the villain of the upcoming Stephen Sommers’ adaptation of Dean Koontz’s novel titled Odd Thomas. Will that happen? We have no idea, but we do know that he’s currently in talks to join the project that already includes Anton Yelchin, Addison Timlin and Willem Dafoe.
So, if Tortorella actually signs on, he will play a local cop, who is also the member of a satanic cult which wants to destroy the sleepy town.
By now, you know that Anton Yelchin is set to star as titular Thomas, Addison Timlin will play his girlfriend while Willem Dafoe is portraying the police chief, both of whom are the only ones who know Thomas’ secret.
In case you forgot, here’s a description of the novel once again: “Odd Thomas, who narrates, is odd indeed:...

Are you ready for another casting update guys? Well, ok then, I’m sure you all remember our previous reports about the upcoming Stephen Sommers’ adaptation of the Dean Koontz novel Odd Thomas, so let’s get straight to the point!
Willem Dafoe is in talks to join the cast of this movie, that is already described as a supernatural thriller, and already has Anton Yelchin and Addison Timlin on board.
Now, according to the latest reports, Dafoe is in talks to play a local police Chief Wyatt Porter who is aware of the titular character’s (Yelchin) powers, who along with the love interest played by Timlin, is the only one privy to this info.
Not bad at all. Dafoe is quite busy guy, he’s currently on screen with Miral and will next be seen in Disney/Pixar’s John Carter of Mars. So we’re happy to...

Production on Stephen Sommers‘ Dean Koontz adaptation, Odd Thomas, begins in just under a month, so news of its casting has been flying around as of late. We already know that Anton Yelchin is in the lead, while he’s being joined by Addison Timlin as his girlfriend, with Tim Robbins possibly in a supporting part, and now a big addition may be happening momentarily.
That’s because Variety says that Willem Dafoe is in talks for the part of Sheriff Wyatt Porter. In the novel, the character knows about Thomas’s ability to see ghosts, and protects him by providing cover stories while the two try and solve crimes. Not that small of a role, thankfully, and one that could suit him well. His older age means that he’s more likely to fall into the role of the typical authority figure/mentor, and if you need such a role,...

Willem Dafoe is in discussions to join the cast of the adaptation of Dean R. Koontz's 2003 novel "Odd Thomas" for Fusion Films reports Heat Vision.
Dafoe will portray the police chief in a small California town and one of only two people who know Thomas' secret. Addison Timlin signed on earlier this week to play Thomas' girlfriend, Stormy Llewellyn.
Stephen Sommers is directing the movie from a script he adapted. Howard Kaplan and John Baldecchi will produce and shooting kicks off May 2nd in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Stephen Sommers is getting closer and closer to the start date for Odd Thomas, which adapts the first Dean Koontz novel featuring the title character. He's got Anton Yelchin playing [1] Thomas and Addison Timlin as the lead's girlfriend, who is one of two people who knows that Thomas can talk to the dead. The other character is the local police chief, and Willem Dafoe is now in talks for that role. THR [2] says "the young man can also spot malevolent forces called bodachs who feats on pain and portent imminent death so when Odd sees them in spades surrounding a stranger, he finds himself in a race against time to avert a catastrophe." The film will shoot in New Mexico sometime as spring leads into summer. Here's more info on the book: Odd Thomas, who narrates, is odd indeed: only 20, he works contentedly as a fry cook in a small fictional California town,...

Previously reported Lily Collins is no longer attached to star in an upcoming Stephen Sommers adaptation of Dean Koontz’ novel titled Odd Thomas. You know that Collins is now officially on board for The Brothers Grimm: Snow White where she will star as Snow White, but that’s not the reason why we’re here today.
We’re here to report that Addison Timlin (Californication) is now the frontrunner for Odd Thomas, although the shortlist also includes Emma Roberts, Kat Dennings and Portia Doubleday.
So, if everything works out good, Timlin will star opposite Anton Yelchin, who is already set to star as the titular Thomas.
Her character, Stormy Llewellyn, is already being described as “a short-order cook with clairvoyant abilities who encounters a mysterious man with a link to dark, threatening forces.” Timlin can handle this, right?

Casting news for the Stephen Sommers-directed adaptation of Dean Koontz‘s Odd Thomas: Addison Timlin is in talks to join star Anton Yelchin, and Tim Robbins may also be circling the project. [Variety]
Despite an earlier report that Lily Collins (just cast as Tarsem‘s Snow White) would appear in the film, evidently Californication‘s Timlin is now the frontrunner for the role of Stormy Llewellyn, the girlfriend of Yelchin’s titular character, a clairvoyant short order cook who must use his power to avoid (or prevent) a major catastrophe (and apparently commune with dead celebrities such as Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley).
There’s no word yet on who Tim Robbins might play (fingers crossed for Orson Welles – but perhaps the killer Harlo Landerson, see synopsis below), but according to Bloody Disgusting, he’s also in talks for a role. Given that Dean (“The Poor Man’s Stephen King...

Addison Timlin ("Californication," "Derailed") is in negotiations while Tim Robbins is said to be circling a role in Stephen Sommers' film adaptation of Dean Koontz's supernatural thriller "Odd Thomas" reports Variety and Bloody Disgusting.

Stephen Sommers‘ adaptation of the Dean Koontz novel Odd Thomas is coming, and today we’re here for a little update! Casting, of course!
According to the latest reports, The Blind Side star, Lily Collins is the frontrunner to play character Stormy Llewellyn. If negotiations work out, Collins will star opposite previously announced Anton Yelchin who is, as you already know, set to play leading role, or simply – Thomas.
Collins definitely looks like an interesting choice for this kind of project, although we must admit that she has some tough competition. Apparently, Emma Roberts, Kat Dennings, Portia Doubleday and Addison Timlin are all contenders for that part.
Here’s a little description: “Odd Thomas, who narrates, is odd indeed: only 20, he works contentedly as a fry cook in a small fictional California town, despite a talent for writing. The reason for his lack of ambition? A much rarer talent: Odd sees and converses with ghosts,...
