The Movie was good. A lot of people think it is linked to Cloverfield. I just read - Part one of graphic novel - The Wake by Synder / Murphy from Vertigo comics it came out in 2013... There is a deep, deep underwater Rig and human size monsters, it turns out there are thousands of them and when the major destruction begins, it is because the mother giant of the monsters is now to be reckoned with, similar story with similar creatures.
