Impeachment Charade
lavatch17 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Tucker played footage from the solemn "march" of the House members as they carried their two articles of impeachment to the Senate as if it were a bier in a state funeral. But Tucker more aptly referred to the group as the Munchkins!

Senator Tom Cotton (R, Arkansas) appeared with Tucker to state that the goal of the Senate will be above all to create a fair process at the heart of the trial. For Cotton, it is imperative to avoid the partisan sham of the House that did not even allow the President to defend himself or call witnesses.

The major procedural task to be completed is to decide if witnesses will even be called. If the Democrats call witnesses, then it will almost certainly be the case for the White House to call their own set of witnesses.

At the top of the list of the White House witnesses, the name of Hunter Biden will be foremost to help resolve exactly why, in President Trump's phone call to the Ukrainian president, he believed that people were interested in learning the depth of corruption related to the hiring of Hunter Biden by Burisma. For their part, the Democrats would appear to be angling for a new witness, John Bolton, who did not appear during the House deliberations.

Somehow, there is the perception that the Senate trial will be speedy. But no one appears to be reflecting on the 1999 Clinton impeachment trial that, thanks to Kenneth Starr, dragged on for months.
