As good and as bad as everyone says, and yet neither.
biloscage15 October 2020
I read every review. I feel like they are all correct in what they pick out about what works and what utterly fails in this series. Where I digress is in the scoring. The show is cringey, hack, contrived, it lacks the refined delivery of a standup special, or the spontaneity of a podcast and there is no narrative through line. There are silly, sometimes revealing bits, that occasionally give the viewer pause. Overall, it feels thrown together, a tad exploitative (as most reality tv tends to). Potential was there, and sometimes you see glimpses of what it could have been, but altogether it's a not-so-near miss. I suppose how much you hate it depends on how much you like the podcast circuit regulars. If I could give half stars, it would be a 6.5/10.

Authentic Bert, but Not the Best Guests!
henryshear15 October 2020
I was fortunate to discover Bert "The Machine" Kreischer in the middle of quarantine. His humor, amazing giggle and having no shame in displaying his body always makes me laugh. I did not know this show was coming out, but I was ecstatic when I saw Netflix promoting it.

I watched all of the episodes in one day, but some left me with a sour taste in my mouth. The problem with some of the episodes is that some people are brought together who should not even be in the same room. Kaley Cuoco and Ms. Pat's episode was very awkward and, at times, hard to watch as a viewer. Both come from different backgrounds and this was clear through what Ms. Pat said and how her humor was perceived. As a viewer, it was really hard to tell when she was joking or being serious. Bert even admitted it was a failure pairing them together because they are so different, but they were still kind to one another and Kaley Cuoco was very polite.

Certain episodes were absolutely amazing though. I would say 3/5 had me laughing the entire time. Certain pairings worked really well too: Nikki Glaser and Caitlyn Jenner were amazing together. Bert paired his friends with others they had never met, but he also included people he was unfamiliar with. The first episode is one of the best because they are all amazing friends and used to each other's idiosyncrasies. Each episode has a different feeling as different people add distinctive energies.

I have read in some of the other reviews that the show is staged and that is completely true. This reminded me somewhat of Jack Whitehall's Travels With My Father in that way. I don't mind that certain skits or events are staged because it is still very entertaining. Other viewers can say that bothers them and that is completely fine, but I still very much enjoyed it.

I definitely suggest to watch the show! I think you will very much enjoy it, but watch out for episode 4!!!

Episode 4
mckaylasisneros15 October 2020
Most of the show was funny and weird and entertaining.. Except episode 4. It was awkward all around. Kaley was obviously really uncomfortable around a vocal black woman, and Ms. Pat (and bert) antagonized her, rather than trying to find a common ground or share a not awkward conversation. Just because people are different, doesn't mean they can't enjoy a same thing or think a same thing was funny. I wanted to turn off the episode the whole time but I pushed through just to see what would happen. Skip this episode. It's awkward and uncomfortable. I would have cut it out.

Great show
meddcj14 October 2020
People in other reviews need to realize that this isn't a podcast and there has to be scripted moments in TV shows to move the plot forward. There is plenty of moments of real moments and real conversation. Honestly the show is very good and very funny.

Burnt Chrysler Keeping It High and Tight in The Cabin
genious-3541313 October 2020
When a show's opening scene begins with Tommy Buns and Coco Diaz, you know it's going to be good. I like this show more than his stand up and is a nice break from stuff like Hurt Bert, etc. It's good for laughs and a lot more. It won't answer the question of 'Why is Burnt Chrysler so fat?' but it will keep you entertained.

So funny!
Mikeyesque14 October 2020
I rarely cry from laughter three minutes into a show, and that happened almost every episode!

Yes, some of it is scripted but it does not bother me so much. You should not involve the podcasts because you cannot compare the two (don't know why you should tho). The guests were great although some felt a bit awkward but Bert can certainly handle it.

If you like Somethings Burning from Bert Kreischer, you'll like this for sure! If you don't know that show, look that up on YouTube!

Cant wait for season two!

Worth it
phojar22 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Is it pointless - maybe Is it silly - yes Is it obviously a bit staged- yeah Is it going to get awards - probably not Who cares? This is supposed to be something to make you laugh and if you quit saying "it's reality but is staged" and get over yourself then maybe you would be a little happier.

Now, I am not a big fan of some of the guests, but I also got over it and watched anyway. Antony Anderson, you lucky I like Bert because I sure don't like you after your Emmy stunt. I was not a fan of the aggressive behavior of Ms. Pat towards Kaley. She was trying to get to know you and all you could do was blow her off, this is why it is hard for people. I would be scared of you too acting that way. I was really glad to see a glimpse of a serious side of Bert on some occasions, they touched on some serious topics.

Classic Reality TV Insanity
brettwhitty14 October 2020
Listen up: it's blue cheese or go f your mother, c sucka...

If you can watch Bobby Lee trying to give Bert a coffee enema in front of Donnell Rawlings and not lose your s#!t, then you're dead inside.

This show is totally fake, and totally insane. Ever imagine Ms. Pat would fall in love with Joel McHale? You can bet you one nipple on it.

Hit or Miss
Dust_in_it_off10 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Some episodes were hit or miss. Donnell Rawlings and Boby Lee- hit, Ms. Pat and Kaley Cuoco- a cringe miss. The best part of the Ms. Pat episode was seeing how uncomfortable their interaction made Joel Mchale.

First episode
shortythepimp-2685214 October 2020
First episode is really the only one worth watching. I laughed sooo hard at Joey, Tom and Bert. You can tell they are true friends and it shows through their flow together. The other episodes were okay. Some of it felt clustered and forced. After that first episode I had high hopes but the rest just didn't pan out, for me.

Plenty of Laughs
Osibob15 October 2020
I laughed quite a bit (the first episode being the funniest) and yes, certain parts were obviously scripted; didn't care much for those segments, but they weren't bad enough to make me turn the program off.

Honestly, thought it could have been done better. More discussions, less activities. Fishing, hot tub, skinning and cooking animals while cracking jokes and then sitting eating, drinking, smoking cigars while telling funny stories and occasionally getting deep would have been better. P.S. Everyone offended by Ms. Pat clearly has never seen her perform before..that's just her; she's like that around everyone. When it's her and other comedians cracking on each other, it's funny, but it can come off mean when "normies" are involved. Bert should've known better than bringing a non-comedian around Ms. Pat.

As soon as they did the facetime to his wife and said hey I'm doing a show, Tom is here..like she didn't know, I turned it off. Still of fan of 2 bears 1 cave but I hate fake reality shows that say and act such b.s

Bert Fan - real assessment
mcdsteve14 October 2020
The show was poorly edited and the fake facetime calls made me cringe.... But I love Bert and the rest of the cast were funny AF too. If they were to do a season 2 or you could go back in time, my advice would be: Dont rush it, don't fake situations.... The genuine stuff was gold. If you're a fan.... Definitely watch!

His stand-up shows are much better.
deloudelouvain10 September 2023
I really loved almost every stand-up comedy with Bert Kreischer. He has a way to bring his shows that stands out from the rest. He's never afraid of some self-deprivation, showing his not so perfect body and so on. But I enjoy the rest he does lesser. Well I still enjoy it but his stand-up comedies are just much better and he should stick with that. His reality shows look forced and rehearsed, and so was The Cabin. Nothing looked spontaneous and that's a letdown. His guests are good comedians as well (most of them) so that was interesting to watch. The third episode with Bobby Lee was the best in my opinion. All in all it's worth a watch if you don't mind Bert's nudity but it wasn't hilarious like he seems to think. Even his laughter looks and sounds rehearsed and that should for sure be spontaneous.

Concept Good but Editing and Forced Video Chats Not Good
kimintuitive14 November 2020
I think great concept, but the editing was jumpy when it didn't need to be... they are comedians. Don't try and make the editing funny, it wasn't needed and it made it feel too short instead of with some meat. And the video chats were forced (sorry LeeAnn). But other than that I think it's a cool concept. I don't know why people were upset by episode 4.... that is her humour and the joke. The mix. Ms. Pat is endearing and funny. It's cool Bert. But get the Netflix team to revise their part.

Best watch in a long time
livfawcett16 October 2020
Binged all 5 episodes in one sitting. Very easy watch and an excellent cheer-me-up. Bert makes you laugh out loud funny and his guests are a great addition. Hopefully there will be more series' in the future!

Slightly generous 7
mg_legend29 March 2023
As other reviews have said, the obvious attempt at being a "reality show" is just too obvious. But I don't think that takes as much away from the show as other reviews are saying?

This was still an entertaining show if you ignore episode 4 with that horrible, rude, disrespectful and frankly racist Pat "creature". If the roles were reversed and a white person was as disrespectful/racist towards Kaley and Anna as this cretinous POS was the blowback would have been insane. The racist and disrespectful abuse she gave to Anna (who can't possibly have expected that kind of treatment when agreeing to be on the show) was an absolute disgrace, and the scene must have only lasted 2-3 minutes. Kaley was treated just as badly by said monstrosity but fortunately has the "life experience" to have dealt with her brilliantly.

The majority of all the other guests were somewhere in between being "pretty good" if not great. Caitlyn came across as kind of fake for the parts that didn't revolve around her personally, but she wasn't a "bad guest". Kaley and Joel were great considering the scumbag they were partnered up with.

So fake
ST_Marcelo14 October 2020
As a huge fan of 2 Bears 1 Cave, I could not get past the first episode. If you know Bert from the podcasts, you know right off the bat that's a fake show. As soon as he facetimed with his wife, you could see the b.s in the air.

I wasn't expecting much, but I thoroughly enjoyed this!

I was pleasantly surprised by the casting of the comedians/actors. Really interesting combos of people, some deep discussions, dumb challenges / activities. Made for a joyful Tuesday evening. I'd recommend it!

Pointless
sdunphy-5982614 October 2020
Garbage. Made an account just to write this. The whole theme of the show is basically what Tom and Bert talk about on their podcast. Only difference is this show has bad acting and fake facetime calls. It jumps aroumd from trying to be 'real' to scripted show. I can't believe anybody thought this was a good idea.

Powerful
jbwhite-204798 February 2022
It's as quirky and strange as Bert himself. While not everything was for me personally, it is really nice that Bert is trying feel better, be better, and do better. Each episode radiated hope and positivity, which we all need more of in these crazy days.

Bert is proof that now matter what we've done before, we can always be better people.

The second episode really resonated with me, to the point of shaking me to my core and asking myself a question I've been avoiding for the better part of my life.

If you want to see Bert just being Bert, give this a watch. You won't regret it.

Great work Bert!

Warning: Spoilers
After 5 episodes I found myself sad it was over. I hope there will be a season 2. Just a thought... Instead of a Cabin, I say you get a tour bus and travel with your wife, to all your favorite comedy spots. Places that made you who you are. Randomly show up to your comedian friends shows and chit chat in the green room. Your wife seems really cool man. She'd make a fun addition to a possible future season.
