Quotes

  • [Aang and Zuko are still trapped in the chamber by the green sticky goo]

Aang : You *had* to pick up the glowing egg, didn't you?

Prince Zuko : At least I made something happen! If it were up to *you*, we'd never have made it past the courtyard!

    Aang : He-e-e-e-elp!

Prince Zuko : *Who* are you yelling to? Nobody's lived here for centuries!

Aang : Well, what do *you* think we should do?

Prince Zuko : [considers]  Think about our place in the universe?

    [Aang sighs]

  • Toph : For Earthbending, the original Benders were Badgermoles. One day when I was little, I ran away and hid in a cave. That's where I met them. They were blind just like me, so we understood each other. I was able to learn Earthbending not just as a martial art, but as an extension of my senses. For them, the original Earthbenders, it wasn't just about fighting. It was their way of interacting with the world.

Aang : That's amazing, Toph. I learned from the monks, but the original Airbenders were the Sky Bison.

Aang : [to Appa]  Maybe you can give me a lesson sometime, buddy.

    [Appa growls]

Prince Zuko : Well, this doesn't help me. The original Firebenders were the dragons, and they're extinct.

  • Aang : You know, Zuko. I don't care what everyone else says about you. You're pretty smart.

  • Prince Zuko : I bet it's because I changed sides.

    Katara : That's ridiculous.

Aang : I don't know. Maybe it isn't. Maybe your Firebending comes from rage, and you just don't have enough anger to fuel it the way you used to.

Sokka : Soooo all we need to do is make Zuko angry. Easy enough.

[Sokka starts poking Zuko with his staff]

Prince Zuko : Okay, cut it out! Look, even if you're right, I don't want to rely on hate and anger anymore. There has to be another way.

  • Aang : Zuko, something happened to the dragons in the last hundred years. Something you're not telling me.

Prince Zuko : My Great-Grandfather Souzin happened. He started the tradition of hunting dragons for glory. They were the ultimate Firebenders. And if you could conquer one, your Firebending talents would become legendary and you'd earn the honorary title, Dragon. The last great dragon was conquered long before I was born... by my uncle.

Aang : But I thought your uncle was... I don't know, good.

Prince Zuko : He had a complicated past. Family tradition, I guess. Let's just move on.

  • [as the dragons are flying around them]

Prince Zuko : [softly]  These are the masters.

Aang : [softly]  You still think we can take them?

Prince Zuko : [softly]  Shh. I never said that.

  • Aang : [as the Chief is handing Aang some fire]  I'm sorry. I'm just a little nervous.

Aang : [Holding the fire]  It's like a little heartbeat.

Sun Warrior Chief : Fire is life, not just destruction.

  • [first lines]

Prince Zuko : I know you're nervous, but remember, firebending in and of itself is *not* something to fear.

Aang : [sighs]  Okay, not something to fear.

Prince Zuko : But if you don't respect it, it'll chew you up and spit you out like an angry kimodo rhino! Now show me what you've got. Any amount of fire you can make

  • Aang : All this time, I thought Firebending was destruction. Since I hurt Katara, I've been too afraid and hesitant. But now I know what it really is. It's energy and life.

  • [Aang grabs Zuko by the arm and starts tugging him in the direction of the statues]

Aang : Zuko, get over here! I want you to dance with me.

Prince Zuko : [Pulls back]  What?

    Aang : Just do it.

[Pulling him back in the direction of the statues]

Prince Zuko : [Looks up at the statues and groans]  Ugh.

  • Sun Warrior Chief : [to Zuko]  Facing the judgement of the Firebending masters will be very dangerous for you. Your ancestors are directly responsible for the dragons' disappearance. The masters might not be too happy to see you.

    Ham Ghao : I know I wouldn't be.

Aang : But once they find out I'm the Avatar...

Sun Warrior Chief : Have you forgotten that you vanished, allowing the Fire Nation to wreck havoc on the world? The decline of the dragons is *your* burden, too.

  • Aang : It's like the monks used to tell me, "Sometimes the shadows of the past can be felt by the present."

  • Aang : What if they judge us and attack us?

Prince Zuko : Well, we're the Fire Prince and the Avatar. I think we could take these guys in a fight, whoever they are.

Prince Zuko : [loudly]  Bring 'em out.

  • Prince Zuko : Wait. It's a celestial calender. Just like the Fire Sages have in their temples. I bet that sun stone opens the door, but only when the sunlight hits it at just the right angle... on the solstice.

Aang : Monkey feathers! The Solstice again? We can't wait here that long!

  • Aang : [Stuck with some sort of glue-like goo]  I can't move. Zuko, do something!

Prince Zuko : Me? I can't move either!
