A great show if you enjoy historical context
ttrestle29 September 2021
The reason I like documentaries like this is because they give exceptional context to events. They don't just show one side and they don't have an agenda. They also do not filter through the lens of current events and current history. What they do a good job of is explain historical events at the time, what the national and global mood was at the time, what the context was and how it was building up to the events featured, and most importantly what the point of view was from multiple different sides. You can understand why this would upset a Trumpian-style conservative and even make them uncomfortable. Yet, this is exactly the reason why they should watch a documentary like this. My point is that the show will be liked more by those well-versed and well-read in history and the show will probably not be liked by those that are poorly educated on historical events.

Gripping and Objective Documentary
emagnuson-4745512 October 2021
Too many documentaries favor righteous Good Vs Evil perspectives rather than the more ambiguous and messy truth. This one does a pretty good job at giving multiple perspectives while still maintaining a gripping narrative. People of all political stripes will appreciate it, even if you voted for Trump (contrary to the other smug, condescending review in here that implies all Trump voters are uneducated and ignorant of history, and therefore will not appreciate the objective view of this documentary. Apparently that reviewer doesn't have a very nuanced understanding of the political landscape, but instead favors simplified propaganda tailored for those who j*ck-off to themselves in the mirror).

Excellent documentary

This was very well done without the crazy tone of a left wing activist. He did a great job, laying this whole very complicated thing out, and did not hide that They believed their intentions were good, and right, even though it was in violation of a legislative directive. Did a great job, explaining the complexities of decisions being made at the highest levels, and how American lives that are at stake further complicate these things. This could never have been just a short movie, doing it in a multi episode was the absolute way to go. The documentary gave a fair shake all the way around It seemed like to me, including the good bad and ugly. It was refreshing to see one that just laid out the facts without political bias. I think that's what makes this so good, the facts themselves are bad enough, but he did acknowledge how great the public saw Reagan and his staff was at other things as well, and the complexities of the presidency beginning with Carter. Each side has used pardons in the past and will continue to do so. Congress will never change those rules because both sides need to have those rules in place to save their own asses someday. It is a system run by elitists, which we are not part of. With that said I'd vote for Reagan again in a second!!

Fiasco is a fiaco

It will take a left wing propagandist to turn such an exciting story into a totally boring meandering morally overbearing film. I think this story needs to be told once again. Not as a left wing propaganda story, but for what it really was. Watching this is unbearable. It will put you to sleep, and then cause nightmares. The bulk of it is useless leftwing morality, with the rest boring historical facts that make you fast-forward. I followed the story when it was happening. And I was hoping for learning something new, or reliving it. Instead, what I got some moral teachings of someone who never lived this kind life. Leon is way too young, immature, inexperienced, yet he delves into morality he does not understand. Don't waste your time watching it. All the good stuff is drowned out by irrelevance, or sanctimonious neo-morality. The director cannot relate to the story in any way other then his obnoxious propaganda.
