With a premiere like this. We could be in for yet another messy season

Season 7 was an absolute mess except for the finale which was amazing. This premiere sent a lot of mixed signals. It had its good moments but nothing happened at all. I hope the next episodes pick it up and if this season isn't good at least we have the finale to look forward to.

This premise was not strong enough to carry 8 seasons

Riding off the sort of emotional volume 7 finale, it appears we are entering another season of having too many characters and too many sideplots - most of which are rehashes of past character arcs with little to no added substance.

The last 5 seasons have been a prolonged rehash of season 2 and 3, and it really shows.

Fantasic way to start off the new volume

The last season of RWBY ended with a cliffhanger that promised high stakes and emotional turmoil and boy did this deliver. In the first chapter alone I was able get a good grasp of the tone of this volume and hot damn that new opening, those visual were breathtaking. I enjoyed this episode from start to finsh my only complaint is that I wish it never ended. This season promises even more of that nuanced writing that I feel most shows don't always do justice, I look forward to the rest of this volume and seeing where it takes our heroes!

After the ending of the last season I found myself anxiously wanting more but I was worried about how things would go seeing as there would be a lot of characters to juggle, but boy was I wrong. From the first episode I can tell that there seems to be a good balance of storytelling end screentime. There was a lot of clever writing and visual choices that helped moments along. I'm excited to see all the new character interactions and man the tension was so thick you could cut it with a knife. Good start to what looks like to be a promising season.

Warning: Spoilers
This episode goes in depth about the backstory involving one of the major over arching villains Cinder Fall.

Show casing the tragic backstory and abusive home life that lead Cinder down a path of villainy.

We see many different perspectives on what is usually seen as a truly evil character in a new tragic light.

The amazing voice acting in this episode really brings out the truly raw emotion experienced by these characters.

A good start to a very interesting season with lots of character growth.

Thank you Rooster Teeth for such an amazing production the sheer love put into the series is astronomical.
