Clay is sure he wants to do STA-21 and become an officer but like Davis, before him, it's not so easy to go from taking orders to giving them and there are lessons to be learned and experience to be gain.
Clay and Lieutenant Rayden had a conversation about stepping up to have a greater impact. Lt. Rayden told Clay he was in any rush and "every day out here is an education. Something new about leadership, combat, what makes a warfighter". Basically, a lot to learn and you could tell it had him thinking and he later confessed it to Jason.
I like how the show included a little 'fanboy' moment with Private Moundst. He was excited to work a SEAL and took him as a superhero of sort. As a fan of the show, I feel the same way. I'm always on YouTube looking up real Navy SEAls. Too bad Moundst got shot you could see the fear in Clay's eyes. He did get a souvenir though.
Now with Tahara, we have a lot to forward to for the ending of season 3.
