At first was not too thrilled with the beginning of this story as the crew was getting ready for a talent show. But then the show took a nice turn into an entertaining mission that was actually humorous and interesting.

Anyway, while the crew gets ready for a talent show at New Caledonia, a com-fleet training officer arrives and advises that two people from Taratupa must complete survival training. The two will be dropped off on a deserted island and then picked up 48 hours later. And the two people are Captain Binghamton and Ensign Parker.

Things go about as planned and the two have to swim to the island. While drying their clothes, Parker gets the fire too hot and the next thing you know their clothes are burned. Now in the undies, they have to face the next two days alone on the island but little do they know that the Japaneses have a squad nearby and take the two into custody.

McHale and the crew go by and check to make sure everything is alright with the two. But they walk right into a trap and now they are also taken as prisoners. But with a little scheme, McHale just may let the crew put on the show for the enemy with just a little twist.

This actually was a nice script as it let the flow of the actors dictate most of the story. What started out as a regular talent show episode involved into something that was more entertaining than thought possible. We have a good example of why this series is so endearing.
