Mike Kovac: Secret Agent Man
sol121823 November 2010
***SPOILERS*** Former Korean war combat photographer and captain in the US Army Reserve Mike Kovac, Charles Bronson, is recruited to go undercover in the sunny French Reviera to get to the bottom of an ex-GI black market ring that's been in operation in that country since the end of WWII.

Besides following orders from his superior Col. Boyer, Arthur Space, Mike is more then happy to travel to France, with the US Army picking up the tab, where he can not only enjoy the scenery but be able to take off his shirt and show off his magnificent physique on the French Reveria where all the sexy French women can get goosebumps looking at it.

It's after US Army undercover Agent Crane, Richard Benedict, was murdered by the leader of the ex-GI black market ring US Army deserters, and former army corporal, only known as the Colonel, Don Gordon, that it was decided by the US Government to put his whole operating out of business. Thogether with the US Army deserters that are part of it!

Kovac gets wind of the Colonel's next move in him attempting to kidnap and hold for ransom Americas top action/adventure hero, much like Bronson was to become years later, actor Hank Fletcher, George Wallace, who's to attend the prestigious Cann Film Festvial. With the help of the local French police and US Military Kovac sets a trap for the Colonel and his gang who are planning to grab the not too corporative,in thinking he can handle things all by himself, Fletcher who's more interest in having a good time then in his own safety.

***SPOILERS*** It's in fact one of the local women that Fletcher picked up to have his good time with Annette, Danielle Aubry, who's part of the Colonel's kidnap plan. Kovac getting Fletcher's sport-scar to run out of gas before it reaches the fork in the road where the Colonel and his boys plan to kidnap him screws up the Colonel's master plan. It's then that Kovac comes to the very reluctant Fletcher's,in thinking he's making a movie where he's the hero in it, rescue and after taking it on the chin as well as tummy Kovac judo and karate chops the Colonel silly. As for the Colonel's band of merry army deserters their taken care of off camera by members of the US Army whom they were once members of.

A decade before he became an international movie star, Chuck gets to go to the Cannes Film Festival (in the script that is) in a very dumb story that is totally geared to military matters.

Don Gordon makes for a nasty heavy as an ex-Army colonel running a gang of deserters in Europe. In the show's opening, Don presides over a kangaroo court convicting one of his gang members and then shooting him down gleefully.

Chuck is pressed into service as a Korean War vet and in the reserves to protect a star attending the Cannes fest who Gordon's gang plans to kidnap and hold for a big ransom from his studio. Everybody is military in this episode except for lovely Danielle Aubry as the star's latest girlfriend who is in cahoots with the would-be kidnappers.

There is zero Cannes atmosphere or anything to do with the festival here, Also, the actor playing the big star is a nonentity. Definitely one of the worst episodes of the series.
