The man
hanjiya27 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This is the best song I have heard in a while There is a misconception that this song is stereotypical or just conveys hate for men. No it's certainly not, it's about how difficult life of a women is, man's opinion matters but not womens. Men have right to get angry but women have to be patient, be it anywhere men have the upper hand. She is just talking about the gender equality that's actually a myth. Just understand that she is just asking for equality, not spreading hate.

Why are people calling this song sexist ? Lmao y'all don't know what you're talking about, taylor swift is just talking about her experience in the music industry as a woman and there is nothing wrong with that! Like, this song slaps hard and it makes me feel a certain way i can't explain, it makes me sad but it also makes me feel enpowered for some reasons.

Watch it on mute

The extra star I gave this was for the visuals. The video itself, from a filmmaking perspective, looks good. Mainly with the lighting and colors and the opening camera shot was good too. It's just a shame it's for a really bad song because, if given good material, Taylor Swift could be a decent director. The makeup too was amazing but Taylor can't pull off acting like a man with her actions and how she moves in the video. The way the video portrays men is not only insultful and hurtful, but it makes it over the top ridiculous. So over the top it makes it feel stereotypical, the kind of stereotypical you would normally see towards race stereotypes in old movies of the 30s, 40s, and maybe even 50s.

Should be called The Misandrist instead

Is this really how feminists view men? Why is this form of hatred of men ok in the eyes of Hollywood? If a man was to make a video like this of women, they would be branded as a mysogynist and worse. First she makes that ridiculous song, now this video. Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

We don't live in the 60s, 70s, 80s or even 90s. This is how brainwashed radicals view the world we live in today. Sick crap!

Not a killer tune by any means

Warning: Spoilers
Here we have the music video for the song "The Man" by Taylor Swift. This one runs for slightly over four minutes and was released in late February 2020, so it is only slightly over a month old now. A lot has happened in this month, but this shall not be the subject here. The enemy is the man here. Miss Swift is basically singing from beginning to end about what men are alllowed to do while the same things or actions are not acceptable for women. Sadly in this heated subject shhe is missing all the right notes really and I agree with the first reviewer who said that project is basically nothing but hatred against the male gender. I use the subway a lot and honestly never see men sitting there the way Swift wants us to believe they do. I also never see people pushing their smoke in the subway into everybody's faces and even if they did, then those who are near would not silently accept it in reality. Conclusion is this music video has nothing to do with reality. It's fake and staged and don't fall for Swift's plan that we should believe this is the way things are. Emancipation is a good thing in those areas where it is still needed (like difference in salaries), but the way it is shown here, it adds nothing of substance to the issue, even if Swift most certainly has given interviews where she said it as important for a female to make this music video. Also the way in which she shoves into our faces at the very end that she is also he director here, not just the vocalist, is cringeworthy, especially how she wants us to see how kind she is by randomly praising somebody else's work. Perhaps instead she should have focused on finally coming up with a song again that feels really creative, which she has not managed for years. Her singing is also very simple, but then again this is mostly because of the tune and not because of her voice. Or maybe also because of her choices because this garbage is what she has been going for for a long time now. Very early on when she mostly focused on country, also had much better lyrics, she proved to the world that she is capable of really convincing quality. There is once again none of the latter to her work here. Make-up work is obviously decent looking at how she really looks like a male in here, but that's the only positive thing I can say. Beyond that, there is absolutely nothing for which this one should be seen. Or listened to. Also boo to The Rock for participating in this travesty. By the way, I think it is safe to say that judging from interviews, photographs and reports that Swift has been with more men in her life than the average 30-year-old woman. Perhaps that is where the hatred stems from. But she should not extend negative experiences she made in her private life to the entire sex because this is the epitome of gender discrimination. And it exists both ways. Or maybe it is none of that and just a cheap attempt to cash in with the still existing #metoo movement. But no matter what it is, the outcome here is not good quality. It is not creative. And it certainly isn't heartfelt music. I am glad it did not even get close to five minutes. Highly not recommended. You'd better listen to the pretty cool song by The Killers, the one that has the same name like this mess here.
