- Sylvie Brett: You ever been in a triage situation before, Mackey?
- Gianna Mackey: Uh, only in training. My last house wasn't as busy as this one.
- Sylvie Brett: Okay, remember what you were taught. More ambulances are on the way. Until then, focus on each minute.
- Wallace Boden: There are not enough women or people of color in leadership positions inside of the CFD. So when the lieutenant's test is offered in a few months I want you to take it.
- Stella Kidd: Do you think I'm ready?
- Wallace Boden: Stella Kidd, you are courageous, intelligent, fierce, and honorable. That is the very definition of a leader. It's time everyone got to see it.
- Kelly Severide: What's going on?
- Stella Kidd: Boden wants me to take the lieutenant's test.
- Kelly Severide: That's great. What do you got, a few months?
- Stella Kidd: Yeah, it's just, uh, you know, down the road for sure, I thought this is something I would do. But now that there is a date actually circled on a calendar somewhere, um, I'm just not sure.
- Kelly Severide: Two things. One, you have plenty of time, so you won't even have to cram. You'll be ready.
- Stella Kidd: Well, what's two?
- Kelly Severide: You have me. Unlimited help, day or night, 24/7.
- Darren Ritter: Okay. Read your opening.
- Randall McHolland: In the Second City, west of the Ryan of Dan, a treasure is yours if you follow this plan.
- Christopher Herrmann: Ryan of Dan?
- Randall McHolland: Dan Ryan Expressway. Ryan of Dan just sounds more poetic.
- Christopher Herrmann: Pathetic, not poetic.
- Randall McHolland: We have to rhyme with Dan. It's harder to rhyme with Ryan.
- Darren Ritter: Lion, dyin', cryin'.
- Christopher Herrmann: Flyin'.
- Randall McHolland: You're not helping.
- Darren Ritter: I am trying to help.
- Randall McHolland: Okay, okay. Let's read your opening, then.
- Darren Ritter: You know, I don't think you're in the right frame of mind to hear it.
- Randall McHolland: Oh, well, it's never gonna get any better than this.
- Darren Ritter: A contest, a battle that'll rattle Second City. Listen, at wit's end, these spits end and split ends that glisten with treasure, not pity. And that's as far as I got.
- Randall McHolland: That's pretty good.
- Christopher Herrmann: I got no idea what it's saying.
- Randall McHolland: Isn't that the point?
- Christopher Herrmann: Yeah. Yeah, it is. Good job. Keep going.
- Gianna Mackey: I make a killer turkey, swiss, and pear sandwich that, I'm not gonna lie, has a pretty damn good reputation.
