Too rushed...
garfieldcamp7 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
My wife and I have been faithful viewers since the first episode. We have enjoyed seeing the characters develop over the years. The relationship between Danny and Steve has been always fun to watch...their constant bickering and continued nagging have been what made the show so fun. Characters came and characters went. This final season felt so rushed. Adam's storyline with the Yakuza took up too much of the plot and eventually felt like filler. Danny's, daughter, son and ex-wife all but disappeared in the last two seasons. We barely saw Kamekona this season and he was totally absent for the finale! Where was Duke? I did enjoy the finale but it could have been so much more! It would have been nice to see Jerry in a small cameo...this was way too rushed. Bringing in Lincoln was nice, but for only two episodes? And to have Steve tell HIM to hold down the fort?Looking at the other reviews on here; this is a common theme. Shame on CBS for just punching the ticket on this. Your dedicated fans and hard-working crew deserved better.

Not planned to be series finale
jjaec-15 April 2020
The writers/producers didn't know it was the series finale when they wrote/filmed the last episode. CBS cancelled it 2 hours before filming the last scene with all so no time to wrap up as a series finale. Blame CBS for not giving the writers time to fo a series finale.

All I wanna say is Mahalo...

Warning: Spoilers
My father used to watch the original Hawaii Five-0 (1968) and he was more than delighted when he caught the remake on the tv. I started watching it with him when I was 13 years old and soon we were hooked! This tv series gave us more than some spectacular moments from the suspense between McGarrett and Wo Fat, Dany's payback in Mexico, Chin's bomb necklace, Kono's search and finding Adam in Canada to the new members of the team like Grover's daughter kidnapping and Junior's kidnapping as well. And lets not forget Jerry or Max characters (I was sad when they left and frustated when Chin and Kono left too). But most importantly this tv series gave us a bonding between us, something to talk about and laught or cry and to look forward to every night for 10 years! So thank you for all these great moments and so much more that doesn't crossed my mind right now being highlighted from the breathtaking Hawaii that brighted our nights! I wish it would never end, especially now that we were introduced to some new characters just before the season finale. But at least now Steve is with his love of his life (and the one I wanted to end up with) while his team may have a spin-off or smt like that on the future. Nonetheless, I will never forget Hawaii Five-0. It will always have the place on my heart as the tv series which was introduced to me from my father and I watched inside his arms on the couch. And who knows? Maybe one day I will catch a remake of Hawaii Five-0 on tv and watch it with the new generation...

Really Poor Finale
lyndz_a4 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
10 years this show has been on and yet this episode feels like the writers haven't bothered watching some of their own show. Really disappointing that they chose to have Steve leave his Ohana and his dog (poor Eddie, first handler died than Steve abandons him) and that final scene is a joke. Alex said in an interview that if he took her back he's an idiot and it would be a means to an end, well that's exactly what it is. Really poor finale.

I am a loyal fan of this show. It's been brilliant and it's been very bad at times but I have loved it so much. Sad to see it go and will miss it.

Nice ending to my favorite series
aboooode-500741 July 2021
10 years of watching, laughing, and getting attached to the characters, the story in general is beautiful, and the conclusion and linking of the endings were nice.

I think the ending was very appropriate, as Steve sacrificed a lot in order to reveal the mystery of many things and endure many hardships and sorrows, and it is time for the warrior to rest with the one who loves Catherine.

Warning: Spoilers
I'm sad the show is over but 10 seasons with 22-25 episodes each is nothing to frown at. It's amazing actually and so rare now in TV. The cast and crew should be so proud of themselves. I'm glad we got those 10 seasons. I loved the finale too. I feel like we got closure but still the sense that life is going on for these characters. It's an ending to the show but not the end of these people. Steve comes back, feeling renewed and found his peace and him and Danny and the rest of the team are working to keep Hawaii and the world safe and on their downtime hanging out at Steve's beach having BBQs, drinking their beer and watching the waves.

McRoll happily ever after

Warning: Spoilers
I loved most of it. I admit the motive for Doris's actions were convoluted and didn't make much sense, however, the conclusion to McGarrett's story was satisfying. My favorite part was the ending. The farewells among the team were touching and the final scene was beautiful. Steve and Catherine flying off into the sunset together was the only way Mcgarrett's story could have properly ended. I will miss this show with all my heart.

Good to see James Marsters again, the rest was "meh"

Warning: Spoilers
How obvious was it that the ending with Catherine was pre-taped (possibly years ago) and slapped on after Alex O'Loughlin decided not to continue carrying the show? I stopped caring about Danny after Scott Caan went absentee for half of the episodes over the last few years, Steve apparently never learned the term "forever home" by leaving his dog behind, and Jorge Garcia/Jerry didn't even get a cameo return. And like another viewer pointed out, it does seem that Scott Caan's scenes were taped separately. Did he actually get too lazy to fly to Hawaii to tape the last 2 shows? Maybe they should have cut him loose and given his salary to Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park as pay equity.

Also kinda glaring was the fact that the other Hess brother, played by Norman Reedus, was never mentioned. I'm sure they couldn't afford him now that he's the $10 million lead actor on "The Walking Dead". And could they have at least paid for Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park to show them in a flashback?

LAME.

what it's the last episode?!

Warning: Spoilers
So sad to discover at the end of the epode that it the series finale and now the season finale, but if it has to end it is a relief that the McGarrett character finally ends up with his beloved true fiancé Catherine (Michelle) as it should be. I was so disappointed years ago to see people give her character flack due to the pitfalls of her career and her character's sense of duty to protect her people when her character was written to leave before the wedding temporarily. I hope that they do at least one more season to see how they all grow old together and pass the torch to the next generation of Five-0 ...but if it has to end now then at least the did a nice job giving some sense of closure. ps. I agree with another reviews comment somewhat regarding they should have had the character of Duke and Kono (Grace Park) make a cameo to say goodbye at McGarrett's house and to properly finish the storyline of Kono & her super hot husband Adam's storyline (Ian is so hot!) that was not properly concluded when Grace Park left for the Million Little Things TV series.

Would've Made An Ok Regular Episode
blueoysterdvp4 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
For a SERIES FINALE H5O was a bust. Mind you there was only 42 minutes to make one as opposed to a two hour well written special. To begin with, other than his funny one liners I don't like Grover overall. At least I don't have to see closeups of his blubbering too many streams of tears face. CBS let us down again. They had a good cast to work with. Both girls have been a fine addition to the show. Tani and Quinn fit right in. Junior was another good addition to the "new breed" of Five-O'rs. Anyway if this was a normal weekly episode I would give it a 6. For a SERIES FINALE more like a 3-4. The ending was cool but could've been done in a better way to work it into the episode itself. The first 3 seasons of Five-O are awesome. Nothing but action. CBS is still easily the top dog in the network World but continue to cheap out and make mistakes. When you're that far ahead of the pack I guess you can afford to for now.

We could have had it all
carly_hope6 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The show was a hot mess of amazing and terrible (though more terrible than amazing) and relied mostly on lovable characters, amazing actors, action, the breathtaking views and Steve and Danny's relationship.

And in an episode that established that Danny is the most important person in Steve's life, where he pleaded for his life in exchange of his own, where he finally acknowledged he wants to find peace for himself. With all this you want me to believe that he suddenly does a complete 180 and decides to leave Danny, who is hurt, vulnerable and alone, leave his family and his dog to traipse around the world? And to add insult to injury to do it with Catherine? A woman who is basically his mother with slightly darker hair? Who hurt and abandoned him every chance she got? Who we pretty much haven't heard of for the last five years except for some random forced appearances?

I haven't seen such thorough character assassination since Avengers: Endgame.

This is not how you do a series finale. This is not how you say good bye to beloved characters, show appreciation to actors who poured their all into their work, show respect to fans who gave you love for 10 years. This is how you spit in all their faces and ensure that they won't touch any of your projects with a ten foot pole.

We all deserved so much better.

Sad but happy
susannienhuis9 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The darn coronavirus messed up the final episodes of my FAVORITE television show EVER! I'm sure they had to rush the story to get production done before the shutdown happened. I think they could have used a couple more episodes just to tie up loose ends. I would have loved a few more seasons, especially with the edition of Quinn and Lance. They could have had Steve go away for a few months and come back with Catherine wearing the engagement ring - FINALLY. That's how I had envisioned the series ending. I'm so happy they were able to get Michelle Borth to reprise her role as Catherine Rollins. I couldn't have handled it ending any other way...except for a surprise, it's NOT ending, but that didn't happen. Steve telling everyone goodbye had me in tears. Catherine showing up at the airport, that made the tears happier but still, my Fridays have been spent with Steve and Danno for years. (It had previously been on Monday nights.) Mahalo for 10 years of excellence, excitement, lots of laughter and quite a few tears (Steve's dad's death, Aunt Deb's death, Doris's death, Joe White's death, just to name a few). Aloha. (See you on CBS All Access!!)

Decent ending for a formerly great series
nwrailfan18 April 2020
Despite the other reviews, this episode was a pretty good ending overall, and somehow managed to satisfyingly wrap up the remaining loose ends. From what I understood, this was originally the season finale, but became the series finale after CBS cancelled the series. It definitely appeared that there were a few scenes reshot in order to make it work better as the series finale. Overall it felt rushed, but was much better written then almost every episode from the last three seasons.

Horrible finale for a great show
dballou886 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Felt like a regular episode instead of the final finale, the producers should have had respect for the fans of this show and given it a proper finale. Made no sense to introduce a new character to end the show. Very disappointed.

What happened to the 2nd hour?
roger-3415 April 2020
Everything I read about the series finale was that it was going to be two hours. The decision about ten behind the final season was made in plenty of time to give the show a proper send-off. It felt as if the decision to make it a one hour episode was last minute. I agree the series had run its course, but to put so little effort into the finale is disrespectful to the viewers who supported the show for ten year as well as beloved cast members who were completely left out.

The executive that made the decision to end this series this way should consider a career as an uber driver where merely getting you from point A to point B in as little time as possible is the highest value.

Love the show, hated the finale
arod_854 April 2020
The seasons before Kono and Chin left were well written and had engaging storylines. Steve's military episodes, Woo Fat, Danny's possible reunion with his ex, Lou's family, Chin and Sarah, and Kono and Adam's relationship were all highlights for me. The last few seasons hadn't really had strong storylines and the new characters never quite grew on me, however, H-50 still remained part of my Friday night routine. This ending was completely rushed. It didn't feel like writers and producers knew the show was ending and had to to throw together something at the last minute. Why bother adding additional characters so close to the end. Just wrap up the storylines you already have going decently. Why bother with Lincoln or the new female, I can't even remember her name, so close to a finale? They should have written a story that included the reoccurring characters that we have come to love over the years and provided them closure (food truck cousins, the teen Steve mentored that's been missing a few seasons, that goofy cop and the police chief). They also left several storylines unfinished that they could have made an ongoing storyline for the season (Steve's exposure to radioactivity) instead of using a bunch of filler episodes that didn't really contribute anything to an ongoing storyline. Nothing memorable occurred in the finale. Horrible ending to conclude a once strong show with a mediocre last couple seasons.

for a finale, a dud
MiketheWhistle17 April 2020
I've seen finales that weren't and were planned, and this was just awful. They actually wrote to the finale to bring the show to a close and did it horribly. I've never considered this a true redo of the original because it was simply too different, but I've enjoyed it although less so after Park and Kim departed.

This ending was so flat, had so little action, brought back dead storylines, and simply was horrible. Very sad.

Yea.....TERRIBLE series finale
JWShoop4 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I was bored on a Friday night so decided to catch up on a few episodes of Hawaii Five-0. I knew this was the final season but thought there were several episodes left. Had no idea this was the finale until maybe the last 5 minutes of the show. Felt like just another regular episode. Most disappointing of all was that they didn't even have the decency to give Kamekona (Taylor Wily) any screen time to bid farewell.Especially when only Alex O'Loughlin and Scott Caan have been in more episodes than him. Instead, some random guy that was only in 2 episodes got his screen time. Extremely disappointing finale to an above average show.

Very bad Series Finale to a Great Show Reboot
ShelbyTMItchell20 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Really it was rushed. And really should had a two parter. Like really everybody should had been involved like Duke, Kono, Grace, Charlie, Chin, etc making cameos to say farewell. Could had been a two parter on it there.

Never tied up loose ends. Very quick end. Really fault lied at Peter Lenkov for ruining the show as the show's front producer and show runner there.

Really he made Steve to be so unlikable and so domineering the past few years therethere. And really should have had Danny at least drive Steve's truck if he was not injured. And really Steve should had least considered other people's feelings. And could had given the task force to Lou not the newcomer Lincoln Cole. An insult to injury on the rest of the team. Me thought Danny would retire over in his injuries and kids.

Great show but lousy series finale!
