If there was ever a show that seems outdated and silly and campy today its Dragnet. Jack Webb's righteous orations which were soul stirring at the time might have you rolling on the floor now. Nevertheless I loved the show I think because Harry Morgan was such a great comic sidekick. The 1987 movie with Ackroyd and Tom Hanks was a wonderful spoof. I have to wonder how many hours of Dragnet Dan had to watch to get Jack Webbs mannerisms and speech patterns down so perfectly. This video shows him and Hanks dancing and singing and is a great companion to the film if you get it on DVD. I always wondered what Jack Webb would have thought of this film (well he probably wouldn't have liked it. I heard he didn't have much of a sense of humor).
