Learn more- After what host Tom Bergeron called an "unpredictable evening of ballroom mayhem" that ended up with a four-way tie of dancers in second-to-last place with 21 points from the judges, one star would have to go home. Who would it be?
Breaking 'em down: Olympic gold medalist Kristi Yamaguchi warned that if naughty is what judge Bruno Tonioli wants, she's going to "bring it on." NFL star Jason Taylor wondered if his dancing days were dead after judge Len Goodman told him "one day you're a rooster, the next day you're a feather duster. That's life." Tony winner Marissa Jaret Winokur said she was shocked by judge Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno's comments and scores, saying she was expecting 8's. Actress Marlee Matlin wondered about how to make her hands less "pancakey," while R&B singer Mario said he'll keep trying to give it his all after a rough night and actor Steve Guttenberg said he was thankful he didn't need his protective gear to face the judges. Radio personality Adam Carolla said that despite Carrie Ann saying he was sexy on the dance floor, "if we were both single, she wouldn't date me." Actress Shannon Elizabeth confessed that she threw up in her mouth a little. Chilean actor Cristian de la Fuente said he had fun and told his partner Cheryl Burke "it was our best dance yet." Actress Priscilla Presley was flattered by Len's positive comments, especially because of the tough competition they're facing.
Encore! After getting a taste of Steve's "Man-go" Tango with Jonathan Roberts in rehearsal footage, Len asked them to perform it live, which they did. Wonder if the Parents' Television Council is going to have anything to say about that? Jonathan accidentally bowled Steve over at the end, but they had a good time.
First two safe: In no particular order, Tom and co-host Samantha Harris announced that Kristi & Mark and Adam & Julianne are the first two couples definitely moving on to next week.
Give it up for Kylie Minogue: Pop sensation Kylie Minogue, who seems to make a comeback every few years, took to the stage and the dance floor to perform her new single, "All I See."
Asking the fans: Some fans were worried about Marissa and "The Gute" as the third elimination neared.
Two more safe: In no particular order, Priscilla & Louis and Marissa & Tony got their reprieves. Marissa & Tony were the judges' lowest point scorers from Monday, so the next ticket home was very much in the air. Backstage, Kristi and Priscilla said it's hard to feel confident even when they have huge leads, which Adam called "a bunch of crap." He grabbed the microphone from Samantha and said, "You know you're in the driver's seat. Please, stop talking down to us. Leave some scraps for the losers!" Marissa said she didn't sleep Monday night and felt bad for her family and friends. Adam admitted he just wants to be there to promote his new movie, "The Hammer."
Congressional Dance Party! Fresh from being named cultural ambassadors to the world by the United States Congress, members of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater Group performed on the "Dancing" floor.
Aussie Dance Party! Kylie Minogue returned to the stage to sing her mega--hit "Can't Get You Out of My Head," while "Dancing" pros Julianne Hough and Mark Ballas Jr. did some Streetfighter-lookin' routine in neon green-highlighted outfits.
Two more safe: After some time-wasting shenanigans with a match maker talking about which couples are the most compatible, Tom and Samantha revealed that Jason & Edyta and Marlee & Fabian were safe.
In no particular order...: In the first elimination, the bottom two were not actually revealed, and they decided to keep viewers and the dancers in suspense again this week. So, in no particular order, Cristian & Cheryl were safe, followed by Shannon & Derek. That left Steve & Anna and Mario & Karina, one of which would go home but the other of which wasn't necessarily the second-lowest voter-getter. Len said both couples bring great qualities to the show. And the loser was ... Steve & Anna. Steve, still all smiles, said he's just going to miss everyone. He wanted to say more, but the show ran long and Tom pushed him out to the dance floor for his last dance.
