An online interactive mosaic made from screenshots from the film was an official honoree of the 2007 Webby Awards - widely heralded as the Oscars of the Internet. You can see the mosaic by searching online for "A Moment on Earth Mosaic."
A Moment on Earth captures the world's first simultaneous Moment in a motion picture medium with over 60 filmmakers filming in more than 40 countries on all 7 continents.
The director helped fun the film by selling shave ice outside his old high school. The company was called 'Global Warming Shave Ice' with the slogan - 'cause it's only getting hotta! The product was called 'Icetacy.'
Exactly 12 Hours after filming their first moment, the teams filmed again in entirely new locations with new heroes. The second film is called 'A Moment on Earth: 12 Hours Later.'
Each filmmaker was tasked with following a single individual or small group of individuals. This person became termed the "hero" of the Moment by filmmaker Shavkat Karimov of Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
