- In the jet heading to Karachi, Kamal sits nervously in her seat while Muneeba sits with a man between her and her daughter. The man sitting next to Kamal figures it's her first time going to Pakistan, Muneeba complains about Kamala ruining Aamir's wedding, then says that they have to call a temporary truce because Nani Sana called them to Karachi. Kamela texts Nakia and tries to explain, but Nakia doesn't answer.
When the jet lands, Kamal and her mother disembark and leave the airport. Kamala's cousins Zainab and Owais greet them, and Sana comes over and she and Kamala hug. Muneeba comes over and greets her mother. Mother and daughter hesitantly hug, and then Sana says that they should go home. The cousins leave to go home, and Kamala, Sana, and Muneeba go to Muneeba's home. They arrive the next morning, and Kamal goes to the room for her. She finds it filled with antiques, art supplies, and drawings. Sana comes in and talks about how they lost so much to the Partition, and she thought that they could hold onto what they lost by creating it herself. She shows Kamala the only baby picture of her, that her father took, and a sketch she did by memory of her mother, Aisha.
Kamala shows Sana the bangle Sana readily tells Kamala that she's a Djinn, or at least that's what her father told her, and it's just genetics. Sana says that the important thing is the last time the bangle was used, it saved her life. On the night of Partition, Sana got separated from her father at the train station, and then a "trail of stars" led her back to him. Kamala confirms that it's the train in their visions, and Sana figures the bangle is trying to tell Kamal something, but doesn't know what. Sana figures that Kamala need to be there with her grandmother to figure out what.
Later in her room, Kamala dozes off and remembers what happened at the wedding. Zainab and Owais wake Kamala up to take her touring. When Kamala says she doesn't want to go, her mother comes in and tells Kamala not to be weird, Kamala goes with them, and they go to a club and have drinks. A woman, Rukshana Auntie, comes over and greets her friend Muneeba. Muneeba introduces Rukshana to Kamala, and Rukshana says that Muneeba was always a bit of a rebel. The cousins continue on their tour of the city, and Kamala wants to check out the train station. When they don't see the point, Kamala "buys" the directions from a vendor.
When Kamala gets to the station, she finds an area under historical renovation and surveillance, dons her mask, and goes in. Kareem, wearing a Red Dagger scarf to cover his face, throws one of his daggers into the wall next to Kamala, drops down from the roof, and says that he's found her. He says that he sensed the Noor, and when she throws a crystal fist at him, he runs up it and jumps over her, and the tries to sweep her feet. Kamala avoids his attack and the two fight. She finally runs, but Kareem brings her down and figure she's not a Clandestine. He wonders how Kamala got the bangle from Aisha. They hear guards approaching, and Kareem tells Kamala that she should come with him, and there's someone she should meet.
The two of them go to kitchen of a restaurant, and Kareem tells Kamala that he should meet his group. He opens a secret door and leads her through it to an underground temple. They remove their masks and a man, Waleed, comes in and says that an ancestor of Aisha is welcome.
The trio sit down to eat, and Waleed explains that the scarf Kareem is wearing as a mask has protected the identities of the group for hundreds of years. He explains that the Clandestines and Djinns are from another dimension, as was Aisha. He shows Kamala map indicating where their two worlds coexist, and a picture of one of the dimensions that Aisha came from. Waleed says that Noor is the energy source of that realm, and everything from that realm is made of Noor. The Clandestines want to unleash their realm onto theirs until nothing is left of their world. Waleed explains that's why it's important to keep the bangle safe. He's interested in the inscription on the bangle, saying there's no mention of an inscription in the legends, and translates it as "What you seek is seeking you." He doesn't know the significance, but figures it was important to someone.
At the DDOC Supermax prison, the guards take Kamran and the others through the tunnels to their cells. The Clandestines manage to break free and take out their captors, and when Kamran is injured, Najma tells the others to leave him behind.
Kamala goes to Sana's house, and Sana confirms that Kamala found what she came looking for. The older woman admits that she's still trying to figure out who she is, torn between India and Pakistan. Sana tells Kamala that there's no rush in figuring it out.
Kareem invites Kamala to a beach fire where his friends are gathered, and they have bilyani, and one of them plays the guitar.
At the house, Muneeba cleans as Sana knits. Muneeba asks her mother why it's such a mess, including toffee boxes, and Sana says that they're for Muneeba and she like toffee as a child. Sana offer to help clean, and Muneeba tells her to sit. Muneeba massages Sana's sore left leg, and then says that Sana should consider coming to live with them in America. She says that she went to America because she needed a change, and was shunned by the neighbors because of her "crazy mother" and her fantastic theories. When Sana says that she tried to share them with Muneeba, Muneeba tells her mother that she didn't need the stories, but needed her mother.
Later, Kamala arrives and finds Muneeba at the kitchen table. Her mother asks Kamala if she had fun with her cousins. Kamala lies and says that she does, and then notices that Muneeba is disturbed and asks her if she's okay. Muneeba says that she's fine, and tells Kamala to sit with her and have a toffee, and the two of them sit, eat, and laugh.
The next day, Kamala goes back to the Red Dagger base and Waleed tells her that they believe she can shape the Noor because of her genetics, but she's also linked to the matter of Earth, making her unique. She manifests the Noor and Waleed gives her ancestral garb to wear so she'll always remember where she came from. Kamal dons the vest, and the Clandestines drop in through the skylights and attack. Waleed fights them off while Kareem gets Kamala out and closes a glass barrier behind them. One of the intruders breaks through, and Waleed joins Kareem and Kamala and gets them all out through the restaurant.
The trio escape in a passing taxi/motorcycle, and the Clandestines steal a bus one and drive after them. Kamala created a Noor ramp, flipping the bus over, and Waleed releases the back half of the taxi so Kareem and Kamala can go faster and escape on the motorcycle. They hit a parked car aside and go down, protected only by Kamala generating a Noor shield. Waleed tells Kareem and Kamal to get to safety, and he'll lead the Clandestines off. One of the Clandestines goes after the teenagers anyway, but Kamala hides in the cab and then drives off after her pursuer passes.
Two of the Clandestines corner Kareem, but Kamala pulls up, hitting one of them with her truck. She gets out, and her and Kareem run. Meanwhile, Ajima manages to corner Waleed on a balcony. Kamala and Kareem past in an alley below, and Waleed turns from Ajima to kill the teens' pursuer with his thrown daggers. She stabs Waleed in the back, and he falls off the balcony and lands in front of teenagers. Kareem throws a tank of flammable chemical into a nearby ware barrel, cutting off their pursuers, then tells Kamala that it's too late for Waleed and they have to go.
Kamala and Kareem come to a dead-end in an inside marketplace. The Clandestines attack them and the teenagers fend them off. Ajima stabs the bangle, and the energy backlash knocks everyone down. Kamala finds herself in the train station during Partition. She gets up on top of a train car and sees thousands of evacuees.
