3. Snagged Skydiver - Rantoul, Illinois - August 7, 2004. During the World Freefall Convention a skydiver's early parachute deployment causes him to be caught on the horizontal stabilizer of the plane's tail. After getting free his reserve parachute opens and he makes a textbook landing.
Armed Stand-Off - Bowling Green, Kentucky - August 29, 2004. Fugitive's four-day stand-off is captured by a police robot cam. An ATF agent, untrained (but not unskilled) in negotiation, finally gets through to him.
Landslide Danger - Portland, Oregon - February 1, 1996. Father and son chased down the hill by landslide in a doomed neighborhood after four days of rain.
