This is a good enough introduction to the kind of show that Midnight Gospel is. I can only assume that subsequent episodes will follow a similar format.
It feels to me like a stream of consciousness podcast played over animation. I guess the humour lies in the fact that the zombie apocalypse takes a backseat to the obviously less pressing discussion about drugs and meditation. The juxtaposition is key.
There's so much going on in the background at all times it can start to feel a little overwhelming. I can't help but think I might have missed some kind of hilarious detail amongst all of the chaos.
Definitely this first episode has me interested to see what else they can accomplish with this idea.
My only reservation is that I could see this style of show becoming uninteresting once the novelty of the format has worn off. I hope it spices things up.
