Sex & Nudity

  • One boss in the game is a young woman dressed in a skimpy outfit. However, this is meant for disturbing effect.

Violence & Gore

  • Like the first game, Condemned: Criminal Origins (2005), Condemned 2's gameplay features violent and brutal combat between the player and the game's enemies via objects that can be pried from environments and used as melee weapons. Firearms are also available to the player at points in the game, and are capable of "decapitating" enemies with headshots.
  • The player can grab enemies rendered to their knees during combat, and either execute them in hand, or perform "environmental kills," which involve taking enemy characters toward certain objects in the environments marked by skull icons, and then executing them with the object. (IE: Shoving an enemy's head into a television, impaling them with a piece of rebar on a wall, etc.)
  • At points in the game, players can perform "chain attacks," which involve repeatedly assaulting enemies via quick-time events. However, this is meant to be stylish.
  • Scenes in the game feature violent, brutal, and often disturbing/frightening imagery. Examples:
  • A man viciously beats another man with his fists until the other man's face bleeds profusely.
  • A graphically mutilated body is seen on a coroner's table.

Profanity

  • The middle finger is used in the beginning of the game if you choose to respond.
  • Very heavy language is used frequently throughout the game by the protagonist, supporting characters, and enemies. "F**k," "motherf**ker," "s**t," "piss," "hell," "damn," and other expletives, along with combinations, are used.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • One of the main themes of the game deals with the protagonist's addiction to alcohol, and it's negative effects. Alcohol can be found throughout the levels and can be drank by the player to increase their aim.
  • Street-level drug labs, which can be destroyed by the player, are featured during parts of the game.
  • A character audibly refers to a location's name with a drug reference.
  • A few of the enemies in the game are meth addicts.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The game has a very dark and disturbing atmosphere. Jump scares are present and the levels are very dark. The enemies are very psychotic and scary. The gameplays brutal violence and the graphic gory images of dead bodies may make for an uncomfortable playing experience.
  • Throughout the game, the player has to traverse run-down, abandoned, claustrophobic areas with minimal to absent lighting, often relying only on a small beam of light cast from a flashlight in order to see.
  • Murder, insanity, brutality, and addiction are all core themes of the game, and are explored throughout.
  • The player must defeat enemies via violent and brutal melee combat. Firefights also occur in the game, with bloody results. All combat in the game takes place in claustrophobic, hostile environments.
  • The game features nightmarish hallucinatory sequences at several intervals during the game, involving environments and enemies that seem to be near-completely slathered in a crude oil-like substance.
  • At many points in the game, the player is haunted by a shady, antagonistic alter ego of the protagonist, one wearing a mask with a grotesque grin.
  • Enemies in the game may be frightening the player, as they often display a violent, brutal, and psychotic nature. Some even show visible signs of self-mutilation.
