James is being a big red jerk once again to Edward just like Gordon and Henry back in the episode A 🐮 on the Line. James yells at Edward for being late but Edward simply laughs. He snidely remarks that Edward "clanks about like a lot of old iron" at the Sheds. Thomas and Percy are there and they're indignant towards James' snide remarks. The two tank engines bet that Edward can beat James in a race but James sarcastically says that he'd like to see Edward do it. The next day, James becomes a runaway due to two naughty boys who fiddle with his controls. James is having fun as he escapes from having to shunt in the yards but that's short lived as his pride soon turns into horror when realizing that he's a complete runaway. While I don't condone or approve the naughty behavior from the boys, I think it serves James right for being rude to Edward. James' treatment towards Edward was absolutely horrendous and vile. Edward puffs to the rescue and saves James just in time. The quote "so, the 'old iron' caught you after all" was absolutely amusing. James apologized to Edward for being mean while thanking him for rescuing him and Edward accepts it. Sir Topham Hatt is proud of Edward and sends him to the workshops to have his worn out parts mended. Edward smiles triumphantly and says that he'd love to stop clanking. Well done Edward, you're a really useful and heroic engine. As for James, I think he should pay more respect to Edward.
