  Wanda Gilmore : Well, Max, I apologize, but you've apparently moved in the middle of a crime wave. The police say there have been two other burglaries in the last two weeks, also, probably by kids.

  Ellen Talbot : What is it?

  Joe Talbot : Remember Max? Well, he wasn't exactly with us all afternoon.

  Ellen Talbot : Joe, if Max did something wrong, you can't protect him; you have to tell the police.

  Joe Talbot : But I just don't believe he would've done it. That other kid, maybe, but not him.

  Ellen Talbot : Wait a minute. What other kid?

  Joe Talbot : Well, when me and Max were playing basketball, there was this big kid in the street today. He and gave Max this fancy pair of blades, then they left, and that's all. I didn't want to let Max go with him but I didn't know what to do. That kid acted like he was some kind of gangster or something.
