Fun

A pretty fun episode with some pretty good lines. (King really kills it this episode.) However, I am worried that elements of the story felt a little too much like earlier ones. You can only have so many episodes about someone trying to trick the heroes. (They do it twice, here!) I did like that we got to see Eda and her sister work together.

Fun and cute episode

Warning: Spoilers
After I finished watching this episode for the second time, I came to IMDB to rate it like usual, and boy was I surprised to see such a low rating (edit: the rating increased significantly since I wrote the review). Parts of the episode did come off as less interesting than usual Owl House fare, but the great plot with Eda and Lily and the hilarious jokes make it a really good episode overall. It's also interesting. I think it was revealed that Lily's actual task was just to get Eda to join and not something sinister like episode 5 implied. And I like that the positive side of the sisters' relationship was explored more this episode.

I also loved the bit at the end where the Lizard guy just moved on and stopped paying attention as he found a new star. A really funny comparison to real life stardom.

I do wanna address some complaints I could see for why people don't like the episode as much as others. King writing a masterpiece even with help from Luz seems far fetched, but I don't think that's a big deal. Maybe he has secret talent and he was really lucky one time. A part of writing is luck, so it seems plausible. Also the stuff with the cubed authors was not explored at all, like if they returned to their normal forms, but they're not important to the plot, so that's also an irrelevant detail.

Good episode!

It is a comfortable episode and quite fun to watch. I really enjoyed the interaction between Eda and Lilith. Only the King who left me frustrated and acted unfair with Luz, in addition to having a slightly cliche character development about both. But overall, I liked the episode a lot.

Time to start moving

I wish luz would actually buckle down and actually start doing something and form a goal. Like, I enjoy the show but it's starting to get boring and I still can't enjoy Luz as a character. She was legit on an island that snowed spells and she only picked up 1? She's not trying to learn how to use her spells in different ways, shes not getting ready for school, etc. She talks a big game but shes really not backing it up on screen and it's making me dislike her as I did star in the first season of SVTFOE.

I mean; this wasn't a bad episode persay, but It just redid the lesson of king being wrong and not showing enough compassion for luz. I think we did this plot line already? Like it's been established this is a thing and vice versa during the magic/demon lessons, the body switching episode, etc. I'd like to see some actual progress in her development instead and see her grow as a person.

I get we've only had 12 episodes and about 20 story lines, but if they're already having to relearn lessons while not growing as people, I don't think this is a cartoon that's ready for viewers now a days.

Decent filler episode!

Warning: Spoilers
As a filler episode, it works fine! It's got good jokes, a fun plot, interesting characters, but I personally don't find it too enjoyable to watch.

While fun, the plot itself is still rather boring. Luz enters a writing competition, King becomes a famous author, Eda tries to steal a magic flower, there's nothing too interesting or engaging that really grabs you like the later episodes of The Owl House do. Watching it the first time was mildly enjoyable, but re-watching it recently was simply uninteresting.

However, it is really nice to see Luz develop her 'magic' more! The light spell to stun the publisher - while it was a bit of a push - was definitely the beginning of the wide array of extremely interesting abilities she learns later.

In terms of character development, the best part is probably the interactions between Eda and Lilith. It's nice to see their intricate relationship be expanded upon more, as well as opening up a kinder side of Lilith that wasn't seen before!
