The next day in his office, Townsend contemplates a map of the motorway going through Belvedere. He tells Alex that it's not just a road but a vision, and figures he and Alex will be out of a job because Beck will first get the motorway rerouted and then get him recalled. He figures that the Mexicans and the City Council hate him, and he's a fat hateful man and no one will ever love him. Alex says that she and Kur love him, and she has no doubt that the people of the city will love Townsend again because he's going to save them. She tells Townsend that he has only one card left to play and he must, because the destiny of LA depends on it. Alex advises him to talk to his father.

He says that they should have waited before he brought Elsa and Frank into his home, and Elsa takes his hand and says that he's a true and good man. She asks what happy families do, and Peter suggests that they go out together. Elsa agrees and says that that night they will go out to the new Robin Hood movie.
Peter goes to tell Tom, and Elsa deliberately turns over a glass of orange juice and brings it to Maria's attention. Maria comes over, gets on her knees, and starts wiping up the juice. Elsa asks if Maria thinks she's a silly girl, and Maria tells her that she does not and she'll tell Elsa when she knows what Elsa really is. The German says that then it will be too late. Lewis tells him that he knows what he is and what he's doing, and that Goss tried to kill him. He puts his service gun on the table and invites Goss to kill him there, and says that Jews are good at surviving.
Goss tells Lewis that he doesn't know what he's going up again, and Lewis interrupts him to say that he knows Goss is working with Townsend, the Temple, and Hazlett's home. The German tells him that they will find Brian eventually and obtain his secrets. Lewis is unimpressed and tells Goss that if he wants him dead, he should kill him, but not his partner and friends. He tells Goss to pick up the gun, shoot him, and spare them both the trouble. Goss picks up his cigarette case instead and says that he doesn't need to hurt Lewis, and says that Lewis's son Felix lives in Glendale. Felix chooses not to see Lewis, and Lewis' daughter is pregnant. He congratulates Lewis on becoming a grandfather, and says that one day Lewis will weep over all he lost when he came into the lions' den.
Lewis picks up his gun and aims it at Goss, then holsters it, tells Goss that he has to look out for the roaches, not the lions. With that, Lewis walks out.

Tiago figures they are, and Molly says that she might want to be free of it. She reminds him of the day they went to the4 pier and tells him that's when she fell in love with him, because he let her be just plain Molly. She asks Tiago let her be that person again for one night. Tiago agrees and Molly says that they can do anything as long as they have fun. He tells her that he knows just the place.

Jerome tells his son to sit, and when Townsend does so, Jerome tells him to give his pitch. Townsend points out that when Jerome came to LA, he had a vision and turned public transportation into private transportation by buying it all up. He's taking the next logical step with the motorways, and plans to control the automobile by controlling the roads they drive on.
Jerome tells Townsend that he's missed the essence of the matter, and the future is in aviation rather than automobiles. He figures the military will pour a fortune into aviation, and the technology will trickle down into the private sector. That's why Jerome 's company can't spare too much worry about Townsend's motorway. Townsend says that he's not talking about the company, but about Jerome. He begs his father to help him, and Jerome tells him that he's already lost because Beck has run the table. He agrees that his son can win with his support, and he's not supporting him because he's weak and he never backs a losing horse. Jerome bids him good day, and Townsend leaves without a word.

That night, Maria returns home and finds Raul sitting at a picnic table out on the street. She goes over and he says that the motorway might do some good. She points out that it might kill the businesses, and tells him to come in with her. Maria and Raul go inside, and she says that the Craft house is cursed and she doesn't know what to do anymore. He says that he might go back to work and bring in some work, and nothing feels the same since the hospital. Raul feels like he has a purpose but doesn't know what it is. Maria smiles and says that they'll decide, and Raul will take her out. She guilts her son into doing it, and they continue together.
At the station, Lewis tells Dottie to stay tight at her home with Brian. She agrees, and after Lewis hangs up Vanderhoff comes over and says that he wants an easy transfer for Diego. Lewis is just to hand Diego over to the San Quentin officer and put him on train going there. They go to Diego's cell and Vanderhoff tells Lewis not to feel any grief. Lewis agrees, and the guards open the cell door and Lewis motions Diego out.

Outside, Kurt peers in the window and sees Dottie and Brian. He draws his gun and approaches the back door, but a car pulls up and Kurt retreats into the darkness.
When she hears the car pull up, Dottie tells Brian that he's going somewhere safe. As he gets his things, Dottie opens the door and finds Benny and two of his thugs there, just as she's expecting. Dottie tells Brian to go with them, Kurt watches all five get in the car and drive off,

Inside, Rio watches Josefina and Fly dancing, then looks over at Raul and Maria sitting at their table. She sees Tiago and Molly come in, and Tiago sees his mother. He tells Molly that Maria and Raul are there, and Molly says that it's only fair that she meets his mother after he's met hers. When Tiago objects, Molly says that she's not ashamed and asks if he is. Tiago shakes his head and takes Molly over to his mother and brother.
Tiago introduces Molly to his family, and Raul invites them to sit. Raul jokingly says that Tiago is a fibber, and Raul got blamed when Tiago broke something. Maria asks Molly if she's work in the police station, and Tiago jumps in to say that they met while he was working a case. He says that Molly is in public service, Tiago goes to get drinks, and Fly approaches him at the bar. The two of them exchange verbal barbs, and Rico pays for Tiago's drinks. Tiago tells Rico that he won't be off-duty the next day and goes back to the table.
