![Get Real! Wise Women Speak features extraordinary women who are using their time and talent to benefit the world. Nobel laureates, indigenous elders, artists, grandmothers, scientists, activists, and educators speak about their journey to the wise woman years and the inner fire that propels them to make the most of their wisdom and experience.
The film creates a vivid mosaic, weaving together ancient archetypes, modern-day stories, vibrant interviews, impressionistic re-enactments, elegant graphics and an original score of Celtic and world-influenced music.
Women showcased in the feature-length documentary include: Jane Fonda, Della Reese, Marianne Williamson, former Essence Magazine editor Susan L. Taylor, poet Nikki Giovanni, oceanographer Sylvia Earle, Buddhist nun Tenzin Palmo, and Nobel Laureate Jody Williams.
Also featured are Indigenous elders Agnes Baker Pilgrim and Floredemayo (both of the Council of 13 Indigenous Grandmothers), author Jean Shinoda Bolen, artist Martha Jackson-Jarvis, Stanford University expert on aging Laura Carstensen, anthropologist Angeles Arrien, ambassador Swanee Hunt, Linda Leitch, peacemaker Vivian Castleberry and dance teacher Roberta Pollard.
The film follows the journey a woman embarks upon as she transitions to the wise woman role, and considers the impact of spirituality, wisdom, feminine beauty, the grandmother’s role, intimacy, aging and loss, and the vibrant and powerful way older women are contributing to society. The film implores women: Celebrate your wisdom and experience and use it to make the world a better place! In the words of wise woman Tenzin Palmo, “If I don’t do it, who will?”
By providing a counterpoint to the crass, superficial and inauthentic media portrayals of women that bombard us daily, the film hopes to inspire a more expansive concept of the totality and worth of a woman’s life -- at any stage or age. Marianne Williamson explains, “As we get older we shouldn’t be losing our mag](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/M/MV5BMjI2NjM1MDczNF5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwNzU5MzE2NA@@._V1_QL75_UX500_CR0,47,500,281_.jpg)

Get Real! Wise Women Speak is an amazing film
A uniquely inspirational film with so many great insights from the "wise women" who were interviewed that I wanted to take notes, but instead I sat back and absorbed all the energy and sense that flowed off the screen. I became proud of the wrinkles on my face after watching this film! A great variety of women, from the generally famous like Jane Fonda and Della Reese to some striking business/industry leaders, to some real people who opened their hearts and minds to the topic of women's wisdom. Great music with enough visual breaks to give you time to absorb all the depth of the audio content. Not just for women. Men will see their mothers, sisters and grandmothers in this film, with great nostalgia for their own brand of wisdom. Well done, and easy to see why this is winning awards everywhere and has 30,000+ Facebook fans. Go Joni!
