Coolio has been arrested in Las Vegas and locked up in the same prison as his son. The 'Gangsta's Paradise' rapper was detained in Clark County Detention Center after police pulled him over for a routine traffic violation this morning (March 9), only to discover that he had two active bench warrants out for his arrest over similar incidents. A bench warrant was issued Monday (April 5) for rapper Coolio's arrest after he failed to show up to court for a legally mandated progress report, according to TMZ.com.
The rapper (born Artis Leon Ivey Jr.) was arrested last year and pleaded guilty to possession of narcotics, specifically crack cocaine. He is currently on probation. Coolio's lawyer tried but was unable to get in touch with the now-fugitive rapper, the Web site reported.
Best known for his "Dangerous Minds"-inspired 1995 hit "Gangsta's Paradise," Coolio was arrested last March after a Los Angeles airport screener found crack in the rapper's possession.
