Unremarkable biography of serial killer Ted Bundy. More lurid than anything this film probably would never gotten anywhere had it not had Bundy's name attached to it. Its yet another in a long line of recent films based upon real life killers made purely to mine the small niche market of the audience who likes films about serial killers. As those sort of films go its not bad, but at the same time its not the sort of film that I can even suggest to anyone outside of the target audience. If you're a fan of serial killer films or serial killer pseudo-biographies then you'll probably like this to some small degree. All others are directed elsewhere.

I had just finished watching Dahmer and this movie came up as a suggestion on Netflix. I'll start off by saying the movie had potential but it seemed to fall victim to poor pacing, shoddy editing and stiff dialogue. The movie had these really annoying and long music montages that just slowed the film down. The screen of Bundy and his girlfriend Stephanie in the hallway was too unbelievable he looked too old to be a college freshman and the dialogue was just terrible. The dinner scene with Stephanie was about a minute too long as well as the scene of him driving drunk.

The lead actor who played Bundy was OK, he wasn't given much to work with, he showed some sparks of a good performance. The other actors did alright. I had to google Ted Bundy to understand what was going on at certain points because I was just lost. When Ted finds his birth record I was confused, when he gets arrested, and then again at the very end. The transitions didn't help either it was a title card with the date no idea what was going on or where the movie was set.

The ending rushed probably because the first act ran so long. The audience didn't see what happened to Bundy after his conviction to change his whole demeanor, which again made it confusing and I had to google it. I would rather seen more of that then scenes with Stephanie walking in a park.

You would think with a wealth of stuff that the Bundy story gives you, that you could come up with a decent film on the subject with a different angle. The angle this one comes up with is a lack of character building, acting and coherent storyline.

From the first scene of a very unconvincing murder the alarm bells should have been ringing stop watching now. Then we are treated to a "young" Bundy who is the oldest High School boy in history and the conversation with his young girlfriend is laughable, especially when she says she wants her secret to be out, the secret being she is seeing a younger man. Younger man? It was embarrassing, it looked like she was dating her teacher or worse still, her dad, and the acting like a coy High Schoolboy was cringeworthy.

There is a scene in a Seattle Call Centre which should have come with a free sick bucket for the lines that followed two minutes of Bundy on the phone to a suicidal depressive, telling him to "get in your car and go for a drive, wherever you want to go...." They tried to paint him as some all American hero.

To be honest, after forty minutes you are hoping the police get a tip off and change history to catch him early, followed by a quick confession and jail sentence so we can all pack up and go home. Obviously this doesn't happen so you hope for some more quick clips and a decent court case. You get neither, just a hotch potch of Bundy standing up his first girlfriend after proposing to her, revenge for how she dropped him and then a drawn out murder scene in a school dormitory.

The judge uses the actual words that sentenced Bundy to death, but we didn't get the chance to see any of this great lawyer in action, just a few minutes of him glorying in his "work" as he makes the detective describe in detail the scene he met at the dormitory Bundy had killed and attacked a number of young girls in.

The only time tension starts to build is at the end towards the death scene, but as the tension starts, it's over before it's got going and leaves you feeling short changed. I'm not saying a long drawn out execution is the order of the day, but some build up would be nice.

There was also no explanation of the truth at the end, no write up about what happened during Bundy's time. I realise that the story is well known but there is a new generation that isn't aware of him or his history. Unfortunately they will not learn anything from this film.

If you want to see a better attempt at the Bundy legacy, try the made for TV two part NBC film Deliberate Stranger.

this movie based on ted bundy, is not the first and certainly wont be the last, but this movie is above average and delves into things the other movies didn't, including his political career, and his early relationships. corin nemac is brilliant as ted bundy, and is chilling to watch, and while the movie is at times violent and bloody, its never exploitive like some other serial killer biopics, and is only showing what really happened, some of the murders are quite hard to watch, but it remains a good movie, with some strong performance's and cameo from kane hodder. it's not as good a movie as 'ted bundy' was, and i haven't seen 'the deliberate stranger' to compare, but knowing this story, this movie does a decent job of telling a horrible story, its not going to be for everyone, and it is very nasty at times, but as a movie about one of the most notorious serial killers of alltime, bundy: a legacy of evil does the job, i recommend to the horror and true crime crowd

I find this movie to be very well written. The movie is very close to the truth. Most of the facts are stated in the movie. The actors and actresses are very good. It's true that he was a very horrific and disturbed person. When u see this film u start to get a close look into what made him finally snap. He also Wasn't the typical serial killer. He didn't touchier animals or have thought's of violence until after his first murder. I mean he had problem with sex and the violence of rape. But i found myself somewhat sad for him on his last day of death row. I saw that indeed he was a mad man he was also a broken person with a lot of issues.

I do hope that the writer, producer, director of this movie reads viewer comments, but I doubt it, despite his continual references made to 'internet movie bloggers'. I have to say that this movie would be by far the least researched movie in the history of movie making. Made worse by Mr. Feifers narration on his DVD. I do realise Independent movie making is different to network backed movies in their budget constraints, but surely even the smallest budget would allow for it's writer to research facts before spouting off non-truths in his commentary. He stumbles through telling the audience to "Look after your children" because Ted Bundy was an abused child which in turn caused his 'craziness'. #1. He was far from crazy. He was cold, calculated, calm and the epitome of an evil sociopath and psychopath. # 2. If you took the time to research your subject, you would know that he was not an abused child, sexually or otherwise. In an interview by Dr. James Dobson the day before his execution, Ted said in great detail how he had a very normal, stable and nurtured childhood where there was no abuse of any kind. He went to great lengths in this interview to make sure no one in the future could ever blame his upbringing and make it a reason for his evil doings. Oddly enough, this is exactly what your movie has set out to do. Your movie shows him as a cowering abused child with a drunken father in a tense family situation without any other siblings in sight, despite him having 5. Bundy also remarked on how his parents were church-going non-drinkers who were wonderful to him and his siblings. His step father being his sister's/real mothers husband was not abusive at all, and was a non-drinker. Not only was the movie flawed with non-truths, poorly researched material, the annoying terrible music throughout did nothing to detract from the really badly acted script, in turn adding to how appalling it is. Really awful independent film which does little to inspire the other imaginative independent film makers into taking the risk to get their movies out there. I have no idea how this even got to tape, let alone fill the shelves of my local video shop. Don't waste your money or your time.

The Most PATHETIC excuse for a movie I have ever seen! This movie does not even deserve to have the score of AWFUL!!!! It was worse than awful. Most of the details in this movie are completely wrong or completely skewed. The only people that will enjoy watching this movie are people who get off on watching other people being severely beaten to death...which in my opinion means they might be someone that you would need to watch out for.

The scenes where he is beating the girls in the sorority house is a little more than extreme. First off...if he had beaten them as severely as he did he would have never made it out of there. The whole movie made him out to be some dumb, raving, messy, lunatic. Don't get me wrong...there is nothing normal about his behavior but anyone who acted the way they show in this movie would have been caught in an instance. They leave out how charming he was and especially how incredibly smart he was. Ted Bundy was literally a genius and he was seriously the most likable person ever...that is why it took so incredibly long for him to get caught and for people who really knew him well to realize that he was doing all the terrible things he did. The director left out some of the most important people in the story and especially twisted the story of his family and especially of Stephanie. From the beginning of their relationship...sorry to say...but no girl would have been interested in the Bundy that was portrayed. He was downright chilling from the beginning and she never would have dated him.

The director of this movie seriously needs to do research about Ted Bundy. If this was his idea of telling a story artistically then he failed miserably. The story of Ted Bundy would make a great movie that I would buy if someone would tell it accurately and not add things and not leave them out. It would show you that even the people that seem the most normal and even the most heroic people that could be good can have another side to them and that should be the warning to anyone...get to know people well and trust your instincts and not your head. Girls especially can learn from that...many of the women that were in Bundy's life did not listen to their instincts...for instance Carol Anne Boone...it took a long time for her to get with the picture. All in all...this was a terrible movie with possibly the worst, out of place, music I have ever heard in a movie. The storyline does not exist and the bits and pieces that are portrayed are mostly false or twisted to make people believe things about him that are not true.

Michael Feifer...if you ever read this...it is a good idea to do research and check your facts before you attempt to make a movie as a biography of someone...especially someone as terrifying as Ted Bundy. He was a smart and very normal and likable person and that is what is the most scary part about him...it could have been anyone. Let's not try to teach people lie's about history. Teach the truth so that people can be educated about it.

Whoever posted good reviews about this movie must have been asleep while watching it. It is one solid WASTE OF TIME!!!

The name Ted Bundy does cause some interest; but I refuse to recognize him as an American icon. There have been better accounts on film dealing with this demented serial killer's exploits. Yes, he had a reign of terror from coast to coast in the 1970s; leaving over thirty dead as he preyed on young women trying to blame his deeds on an unhappy childhood and his hatred toward women in general. Corin Nemec playing Bundy is really a bad choice for the part. Sure Bundy was arrogant, but this guy is just plain sickening. There is a horrendous soundtrack trying to simulate music from the era; there is no doubt in my mind this stuff was not on American radios or jukeboxes. Most of the dastardly deeds are left to the viewer's imagination, with the only gruesome material maybe being the aftermath of an electrified Bundy smoldering in the chair. It is doubtful you could get a quarter for this DVD in a yard sale.

Howling at the sky? Screaming at God? Shy & dorky? Nope, Bundy was charismatic, and easy to converse with. (ask any of the detectives who worked his cases) This was the worst portrayal I've ever seen or read! Did this director even do any research at all? What a joke! I'm still trying to understand WHO this movie was about since it certainly wasn't Ted Bundy! And where did he get the idea that Bundy was abused as a child? Nope, never happened. He repeatedly said that his childhood was "middle class & very normal" which was one of the fascinating things about him. This WASN'T a poor abused prisoner like so many claim. His parents were wonderful to him (according to his own words) The scene showing his parents or parent drunk, fighting, screaming while he hides in his room is complete garbage! This was poorly researched and horrible. Don't waste your time on this one - see the 2002 version.

This movie, Bundy: An American Icon, is perhaps the worst production I have ever had the misfortune to watch all the way through. I was actually fascinated with just how bad a movie could be. I am told that many details were wrong or omitted from the story, so my quest to learn about Bundy goes unfulfilled. Corin Nemec is without a doubt the worst actor I have ever seen. The script was silly, non-intensive, disjointed, and slow. I never for a moment believed that this was the charming and intelligent man I had heard about.

Poorly shot and dark, it also has some truly odd musical choices, which are in some cases almost funny. The director also tortures us with scenes of no value to the plot, such as really long shots of Bundy driving drunk, Bundy staggering about, Bundy giving an surreal news interview, and perhaps worst of all, Bundy defending himself in court (in a scene that would make a courtroom skit on SNL seem sedate). Do yourself a favor and pass on this bloody awful mess.

I respect the work of Michael Feifer. He certainly is not perfect films, but much better than that Ulli Lommel. Michael is obsessed with the topic of serial killers and took a lot of movies about them. Many of his films have received harsh criticism, but, as his efforts to remove a good movie seen. Ted Bundy, the most popular American serial killer. All his victims were young girls. He killed the ear, and then raped. These actions resulted in him that he had parted with his beloved, he tore off her anger, he tore the anger on others. Most of the facts of life Bundy were included in the film. Of course not all the facts, but that is no reason to curse the movie. Corin Nemec, though not like Bundy, but well played and I remember a long time. Other actors also coped well with the roles, also pleased the presence of Kane Hodder, aka Jason, and this is a real gift for fans of horror movies. What are the facts here are displayed? Bundy's childhood, his first love, school days, that he wanted to go into politics, how he defended himself in court. It is no longer enough. Certainly not a few blunders, but with this budget, filmed pretty well. A good and interesting movie, but not a masterpiece. I do not understand why he did not much like. The fact that the director is trying to remove a good movie it is evident, he tried, and got quite good.
