A Dark Vision in a Cute Story
pauluswiggus6 October 2021
This is a very unusual Disney short, which presents two 'dogs' made from various pieces of trash, that inhabit a junkyard and are attached by a much larger 'trash' monster. The story is very simple (the film runs under 3 minutes), but the look of both the characters and the backgrounds, present a bleak, post-apocalyptic vision, which gives the whole film a very dark undertone. The whole thing feels very much like a precursor to later Pixar films, with the character design (in 3D) reminiscent of Toy Story, while the story and backgrounds (2D), strongly resemble Wall-E. Not a brilliant film own it's own merits, but lots of there for anyone interested in the development of animation, particularly at the early juncture between 2D and 3D.
