Dexter the Family Man!
g-bodyl20 October 2014
This is the fourth episode of the third season of Dexter and it's a really good one and the tension picks up as we see the imminent collision between Dexter's personal life and his family life. This film has some good bout of black comedy, but it also has some surprising emotional moments. I nearly choked up at one of the scenes toward the end. But this episode is focused on Dexter trying to become a family man.

In this episode, "All in the Family," Dexter and Rita tell the kids about Rita's pregnancy, but Astor is far from impressed and furthermore, Rita rejects Dexter's marriage proposal. Meanwhile, Miguel's brother Ramon is not happy with the police, and Miguel suggests that they tell him about Freebo's death. Batista is almost caught in a police prostitution sting and Debra is not pleased about how her partner, Quinn is handling the investigation.

Overall, this is a great episode and I like how Dexter tries his best to incorporate himself as a family man but comes across as really awkward. But however that final scene left me with two...perhaps somewhat moist eyes. I rate this episode 9/10.

Cast in the Role of a Lifetime
claudio_carvalho17 January 2011
Dexter and Rita decide to tell Astor and Cody that their mother is pregnant but Astor questions why they are not married. Out of the blue, Dexter botches the situation proposing Rita and she declines and tells that father and husband are different responsibilities. Meanwhile, there is a break-in the house of Fiona and her fiancé Jack is hit on his head by the burglar, splattering blood on the wall. Angel and his team investigates the murder but Fiona is in shock and unable to help the police. Rita is nervous with the situation, curses an irritating client and is fired by the hotel manager. Ramon is drinking every night and blaming the Miami Metro detectives of incompetent to investigate the murder of his brother, and Miguel suggests Dexter to tell Ramon the fate of Freebo to calm him down. However Dexter feels that Ramon can not be trusted. Yuka is pressing Debra to rat Quinn to get her shield but she declines the offer again. Dexter decides that something must be done with Ramon that is a ticking bomb; finds a surprising revelation in his forensic investigation; and decides to propose Rita in the role of his lifetime.

"All in Family" is another engaging episode of Dexter, where he finds that he must act like most of the normal people do to get married with the stressed Rita. The disturbed Ramon threatens his safety and Miguel seems to be his real friend and might help him to share the burden of his secret life. The needy Angel is almost caught in a vice operation by a female detective. The mystery about the past of Quinn, who seems to be an efficient detective, remains unsolved. My vote is nine.

Pizza Night

Warning: Spoilers
1. Dex has a southern accent 2. Angel keeps getting in trouble in relation to sex 3. Dexter manipulates Miguel to turn on his brother 4. Dexter proposes

I can't even imagine Dexter getting married. This is a huge step for him... or a fatal mistake. Season 3 has been rather slow so far, perhaps because there are no major "villains" to keep up with. The friendship between Miguel and Dexter is something to keep an eye on - hope it doesn't backfire on him like it did with Lila.

Masuka: Ticket? Angel: I'm seeing my daughter that night. Masuka: You don't even know what date it is. Angel: I have to keep my schedule open for her.

Warning: Spoilers
Dexter botches his first marriage proposal to Rita, but a shocked and grieving fiancé's display of emotions provides him with clues on how to show the proper feelings himself.

Masuka is feeling friendless after no-one will accept the tickets to attend his thingy. He even goes to the effort of trying to bribe them with donuts. Dex: The blind leading the blind.

Deb is good in the interrogation room, though Quinn has a different method and takes over. Quinn(to Deb): You got one tool in ya tool box, and it's a hammer. Dex and Deb look on as Quinn listens to the fiancé, Dex takes it all in, as a starting point for his proposal.

Truly wonderful ending, as Dex proposes to Rita and the kids.

Keeps getting better
jetkot21 September 2017
I have become addicted to Dexter. The show keeps getting better with every episode. Very well written actors and brilliant lead actors. The show entertains you thoroughly. This episode makes us see many layers of Dexter. He makes you feel for him. You are unsure whether he likes being a normal human being or is he better equipped in acting normal.

Dex About to Get Married [8.7/10]

Warning: Spoilers
My Reaction / Review for Dexter Season 3 Episode 4 ''All in the Family'' (S3. E4): Episode 3 was great and I gave it a rating of 8.6/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. Dex wants to get married? I didn't expect that. I would love a wedding. I don't know if I would trust Prado with Dex's secret. I feel bad for Masuka, just take the tickets everybody. Why they keep mentioning this Hines dude case, who cares? Lol Dexter is trolling Prado's brother, its funny, making that silly voice on the phone. Dex the puppet master, I love it. Dexter proposing was so adorable, love it. While not much happens in this episode it was still very entertaining. My rating is 8.7/10.

Warning: Spoilers
This episode begins with Dexter and Rita, they told to the kids that they are getting a baby. The kids seem dissapointed. Dexter asked Rita to marry with him. Debra interviews Fiona about the murder on Jack. Fiona told Quinn that she killed Jack. Dexter asks Rita to marry him official, she says yes. Nice episode of Dexter Season 3, there is a marriage coming. Nice to see how Dexter asked Rita!

Dex, Lies, and Stereotypes
skay_baltimore4 April 2014
Warning: Spoilers
With "All in the family", season three continues its downward spiral.

Whiny Trainwreck Rita doesn't like Dexter's proposal. BFD.

The melodrama with the Prados ramps up.

The acting of Cody and Astor makes one wonder who did the casting.

And the one dimensional nature of most of the characters in this series really comes to the forefront.

Annoyance is, once again, the name of the game. And Dexter himself looks more and more like a morph between Rainman and Ninja Morgan. And while it was interesting at first to see that blank stare/"lost at sea" look every time he was faced with some emotional issue, it's gotten very old at this point. The same with the incessant voice overs -- they're nothing but a constant reminder of the weak writing that permeates this series. In truth, Dexter is a re-do of an old classic -- Pinocchio -- and the whole matter of what will it take for Pinocchio to become a "real" boy. That is the essence of "Dexter" in a nutshell.

And in keeping with the trend started in season 2, drama continues to take a back seat to melodrama, especially when it comes to anything remotely related to Rita. (And the Prados) Rita is just a horrible character who gets more annoying the more screen time she gets. She's like a montage of two-bit self-help pamphlets that just aren't helping. The best part of this episode? Rita gets fired. Unfortunately, she didn't get fired from the show.

Not much to see here, folks. Move along.

(Unless you need a nap. Then this snooze fest might be just what the doctor ordered.)

After a promising first 2 seasons, this season is all over place.
KopCity11 April 2022
I don't usually write reviews but I thought I must seeing as it's been rated highly for whatever reason.

New season, new characters, boring storyline.

Can't get used to the characters.. it's well overrated, you just hope it gets better. It's all of a sudden become a family drama with little action.

I thought Dexter is emotionless... obviously not.

Disappointing.
