The Swamp Match contains numerous references to Dante's Divine Comedy, specifically, Inferno. Such as the sign at the entrance of the swamp when Braun Strowman enters says, "Abandon all hope ye who exit here." That is a reference to the sign at the gate of Hell in the poem that reads, "Abandon all hope ye who enter here." The hero must go through the nine stages of Hell each one representing all the sins he has committed in life and personality flaws.
Seth Rollins legit vomited at the end of his match.
The first championship match where the champion could lose the title over a disqualification or count-out since WrestleMania 25.
The event was held without a paying audience due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States, though it featured a live crowd of WWE wrestlers and trainees.
The event was originally scheduled to be held at the SAP Center in San Jose, California; however, the Santa Clara County government restricted public gatherings indefinitely due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, and just like the majority of WWE's other shows since mid-March, the event was moved to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.
