It (Finally) Happened One Night
kgraovac15 November 2023
Dot's biological clock is ticking and she wants to have a baby; Nancy thinks Howard is having a mid-life crisis; Sonny wants to dump his agent for a new one.

Another average episode from this era, it IS notable because Howard actually spends the night with Nancy - finally! When she takes him square-dancing, Howard looks like a prototype for Buzz Lightyear from TOY STORY.

Dot's storyline is unfortunately underdeveloped. They should have made this a major plot thread like they did a few years later with Carol on EMPTY NEST. Jan's short conversation with Dot made me miss the ABC years when subjects like this were handled so expertly with humor and heart.

The agent that Sonny is trying to impress in the dining room is named Roger Garrett - the name of the series script consultant/writer.

Nancy has a great moment after Howard agrees to their date: "Stay calm Nancy, fish ain't landed til they're in the boat". Her square dancing dress looks less ridiculous than the gowns she wears at work.

The best part is the "morning after" where Nancy enters the scene singing "You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman".
