- Previously on...: Pezuela told Aceveda that he was calling the shots on his campaign, in front of Guillermo Beltran, who is the cartel evaluator who's watching Pezuela. Vic had to prove his worth to I.C.E., while the cops learned that Shane had hired a drug dealer's hit man to kill Ronnie. Corinne turned on Vic, lying to him by telling him that Shane and Mara would not be calling her anymore.
Vic and Ronnie went to visit Stella, Mara's mother. Stella didn't know where Mara was, or even that Mara was pregnant. Vic went to a bar and offered some gangsters a $10,000 bounty for anyone who could get Shane. Meanwhile, Shane and Mara spent some time in the pool of the mansion where they were squatting.
Ronnie told Vic he was worried they weren't going to find Shane. He said he could run, hit the border before anyone even knew where he was. He suggested Vic run, too. Vic said Shane doesn't get to win, kill Ronnie's career and kill Vic's chance to have a life with his kids. Vic wanted a few more days so he could bring down Beltran, Pezuela's cartel boss. Vic asked for one more shot to get out of it. "If I fail, we'll both run," he told Ronnie.
Corinne called Dutch and Claudette and wanted full indemnity from any fallout before telling them that Shane and Mara were talking to her. She said she needed Vic out of her life for good. The chief wanted Claudette to arrest Corinne, but she resisted and got the chief to agree they should give her the help she needs.
Vic told Aceveda that he should get out of the I.C.E. situation and "let the real men finish the job." Shane and Mara enjoyed some poolside barbecued hot dogs and hamburgers. Vic surprised Pezuela by waiting at his office, but Aceveda surprised Pezuela even more by showing up unannounced. Aceveda decided to stand up for himself and told Pezuela that he was still deciding whether he was going to become mayor with or without Pezuela's help. Pezuela talked tough for a moment before it turned into a real scuffle, which Aceveda dropping the hammer on Pezuela, telling him "the only mistake I made was letting you think that I was your errand boy, instead of the other way around."
Aceveda was confident that he'd soon be dealing directly with Beltran, thanks to the way he'd just dealt with Pezuela. Corinne talked to Dutch and Claudette about working with Mara and Shane. Claudette was worried about Vic finding out about Corinne working with them.
Billings had a home-invasion robbery that he wanted Dutch to work on, but Dutch couldn't work on it because of the Corrine and Vic thing. Billings spilled a bit more than he should have to Ronnie about it. Claudette and Dutch were staking out Corinne's house when Vic showed up. Corinne kept the phone line open so Dutch and Claudette could listen in, but Mara was trying to call. When Mara called, Corinne told her that the cops were blocking all major throughways out of the city and were going to release pictures of Shane and Mara to the evening news.
Vic checked with Ronnie for the latest on Shane, but Ronnie wanted to know what the latest was on the I.C.E. investigation. Vic met with Beltran at a bar. Beltran told Vic that if he wanted to prove himself, "I never want to see his face again." "Pezuela?" Vic replied. "Show me the cop washes off of you," Beltran said.
A realtor walked in on Shane and Mara in the mansion and Shane ended up holding the realtor at gunpoint. Dutch got the report and told Claudette about it, but he avoided letting Billings in on it, for fear that he'd spill it to anyone else.
Vic went to Pezuela and held him at gunpoint, telling him Beltran wanted him dead. Instead, Vic took Pezuela into I.C.E. for questioning, offering him a second chance. Pezuela put on a show for Agent Murray, but told Vic he was worried that Beltran would never stop looking for him. "He's not going to be looking for a dead man," Vic told him.
Vic told Murray that Pezuela would talk eventually.
Mara thought that she and Shane should get out of California, but he thought they could wait it out until the presidential motorcade came to town the next day and they'd be in the clear. Shane promised a peaceful future in Colombia.
Vic told Beltran that Pezuela killed himself that night. Shane, meanwhile, was held at gunpoint by a couple of gangsters who were looking to cash in on the $10,000 bounty. Shane got them to agree to $20,000 to leave them alone, but when they saw Shane's stash of cash that came to nearly $100,000, they took it all. Shane and Mara got away.
Beltran went to Aceveda to tell him Pezuela killed himself that night. Mara called Corinne and told her -- while Dutch and Claudette listened -- that Vic tried to get them killed. He told Corinne about the bounty on their heads. At the same time, Shane called Vic and told him there was a letter headed toward the barn, a written confession about one of their past transgressions that would leave Vic and Ronnie in jail together for three to five years. Shane also demanded that Vic replace the $100,000 cash by 5 p.m. the next day. Shane told Vic that Corinne was going to handle the exchange.
Shane threatened to talk about Vic shooting Terry Crowley if he didn't cooperate, and Vic knew he had to. He told Ronnie that they had to figure out how to put "$100,000 in Corinne's hands by tomorrow."
Mara asked Corinne to make sure Vic carried out Shane's plan, but Claudette got on the line and asked Mara to make a deal, save herself, save her children and get immunity. She couldn't promise the same for Shane. "I want you to know that all I want from this is Vic Mackey behind bars. That's it," Claudette told Mara. She asked Mara to call back the next day. Mara told Shane that Corinne was working with the police.
