- Vic loses his hearing, which is brought up ahead of schedule, and faces early retirement. He also loses favor with Cruz Pezuela and begins playing hardball with Dani, who wants him to give up all rights to their child.
- Previously on...: Mackey discovered a box full of blackmail material that belonged to Cruz Pezuela, a Mexican who is looking to buy up much of Farmington. Mackey convinced Pezuela that the Armenians had the box and Pezuela assassinated a local politician who was friendly to the local Armenian population to send a message. ICE Agent Olivia Murray, who has been hanging around a lot lately, is also in the blackmail box and doing favors for Pezuela. Meanwhile, the final showdown between Vic, Ronnie and Shane was set in motion when Vic and Ronnie tried to set Shane up to get killed, but he unwittingly escaped it. Now he knows they're trying to do him in, and he doesn't like it.
'Watch my back': Shane got ready for work knowing that Vic and Ronnie were after him and told Mara that he'd just have to watch his back for a few days. Vic went to Danny's house and tried to smooth things over, but warned her that he was getting a court-ordered DNA test. He wants a role as the boy's father.
Aceveda turned over the blackmail box to Justice, as he promised he would. They showed Vic and Aceveda footage of Vic talking to Armando Rios, which proved that Vic and Aceveda didn't bring them the info first. Justice took over the investigation. Vic told Aceveda that he left Olivia hanging out to dry because her file was in the box, but Aceveda said he took it out. "I'll bet she can't wait until that bill comes due," Vic said.
Back at the station, Vic and Ronnie got into it over the Shane situation. Ronnie told Vic that he got in the way of Vic trying to warn Shane about the ambush because Vic "had it right the first time." Vic told Ronnie that now they don't know what Shane knows, what he suspects or what he'll do. Vic realized he played a big part in what Shane is now. Claudette came in and told Vic that his review board hearing was in one hour. It had been moved up two weeks earlier than he thought it'd be.
"Termination without pension, effective 10 days from now," Vic told Ronnie after the hearing. His attorney told Vic that the police chief has the final say and that he should get his captain to put in a good word. Vic explained to the PBA Rep, that Claudette wouldn't.
Vic and Shane chatted about Vic's badge and Vic asked Shane if he was alright after his close call. They were at a crime scene where a prostitute had been beaten by her pimp. Vic was called because the working girl who found the victim said she knew him. It was Farrah, from Season 3. She pleaded with Vic to catch the guy and he was disgusted by her mere presence. The victim ended up dying, turning it into a murder investigation. Claudette noticed Farrah yelling at Vic in the station and him yelling back. She watched on a monitor as Farrah told Julien what happened.
Vic told Olivia that Aceveda took her file out of the box, giving her a new blackmailer. Olivia told Vic that the feds were going to raid Pezuela's construction site that day. Pezuela essentially thanked him for the info, then handed Vic an envelope and said he was no longer needed.
Dutch and Billings interviewed a woman who feared she'd shot an intruder. Dutch asked Billings to finish up because he wanted to check out Claudette's place, which was five doors down. He noticed some things out of place through a window, broke in and found the place was a disaster.
Danny went to Corinne to ask if she could help make a case that Vic was an unfit parent so that Danny could get sole custody of their son. Claudette wasn't happy that Dutch checked up on her house and told him her car was in the driveway because it wouldn't start that morning so she had a cop ride her to the station.
Vic told Ronnie that he'd talked to Shane and "it looks like we're alright." Ronnie said that as long as Shane's still alive, they're not alright. Claudette walked in and offered Vic a deal: If he cleaned out his locker early, she'd personally go to the chief and get part of his pension restored. He looked surprised, but passed. Claudette then assigned Vic and Ronnie to the prostitute murder because the guy also makes and moves meth, which was something the Strike Team was created to fight in the first place.
Corinne went to the station and told Vic about Danny coming to her. She wanted Vic to think about why he was putting up a custody fight in the first place.
Vic and Shane rode together to talk to Cappucina, one of the prostitutes who'd know Bombay the pimp. Vic and Shane then rode with Farrah to where they thought they'd find a friend of Bombay's named Two-Man. They spotted his car, then waited for him to come out. Vic asked Farrah to keep the talking to a minimum.
Dutch noticed a 15 percent increase in breaking and entering reports in Claudette's neighborhood in the past three months. He and Dutch talked to an ex-cop named Lester who runs a private security company that patrols the neighborhood. He told them about some local druggies who might have been behind the robberies.
Back at the stakeout, Bombay's friend was spotted walking out and that started a foot chase with Vic and Ronnie taking the lead. Shane dropped back a bit, apparently worried that it could have been a set up to get him. Ronnie got upset with Shane and gave him a dirty look after they caught the guy. He told Vic where Bombay's new cookhouse was.
At Bombay's place, just as the guys were about to ambush the trailer he was in, he burst out firing at them. They took cover, but Julien followed and shot the shot, killing him. Claudette told him not to talk to anyone and that internal affairs would take his statement later. Vic was satisfied, telling Claudette it was a good thing he stuck around. "Might even pick up a letter of commendation for this one," he told her.
Back at the station, Vic caught a glimpse of Lester, the ex-cop, and they stared each other down. Vic served Danny with papers to appear in court. Olivia told Vic about the massive raid on Pezuela's construction site. Nothing turned up. Dutch asked Vic if he had history with Lester, the ex-cop. Vic told Dutch that if he thought Lester did something wrong (Vic used a different word), "he probably did." Claudette told Danny to handle her business with Vic. Dutch told Billings they should consider Lester as a suspect.
Vic went to ICE and proposed that he give Pezuela back his blackmail box because it could lead to the people above him in the cartel. They had to get Olivia's file back from Aceveda so that it wouldn't be missing from the box when they returned it to Pezuela.
Vic and Olivia went to see Acevada about putting her file back in the box, so they it didn't spook him about a setup. Acevada didn't want to give it up, but Olivia told him that once they arrested Pezuela and he turned her in, she would then turn Acevada in for blackmailing her, Vic said he would back her up in testimony. Acevada had no choice but give Vic the file.
Dutch asked Lester directly about whether he was involved in the robberies. He scoffed at the suggestion, then stripped down in the interrogation room to prove that he had no wounds that would connect him to the trail of blood that was left at the most recent break-in. Dutch asked about Lester's partner, J.R., but Lester said that his partner was on vacation. Later, Dutch and Billings found out that J.R.'s "vacation" was at a hospital in Riverside, where he was treated for a gunshot wound. Lester fessed up to the whole thing on the agreement that he not face charges for breaking and entering.
Meanwhile, Cappucina came to the station and told Shane she'd seen Two-Man beat up the prostitute who was killed, but Shane wondered whether she was just making up the story to help out her pimp. Vic and Ronnie asked one of the girls who was in Bombay's trailer why he came out firing. She said he'd gotten a phone call warning him that cops were outside and getting ready to come in. Vic looked upset and left the interrogation room. He went to Farrah and ripped her for using him and setting up the whole story about Bombay. She tipped him off to the cops' arrival so that they'd shoot him. She laughed at Vic because she was still able to make him do her dirty work. She said he was the same person now and he was then.
Dutch told Claudette he "had to" break in to her house because he was worried. He said it was obvious she wasn't taking care of herself and he said maybe she needed a little help. She told Dutch it takes every bit of energy she has to get through the day. She has nothing left at night. He told her he hired her a cleaning lady who would come over twice a week.
Vic went to Danny's house and they talked through their custody issues. She told him she could agree to some parameters that he said he could live with. But when he left, we saw her packing up suitcases and boxes, and apparently getting ready to skip town.
Shane went to Two-Man's motel room who they'd chased and beat up earlier. Ronnie got in a few shots to the face that the guy said might have broken his jaw. Shane told the guy that he's got a witness who claims to have seen the guy beating up the murdered prostitute. But he offered him a deal that could make the whole thing go away if he "got rid of somebody." The guy asked, "Who?" And Shane simply replied, "How's your jaw feeling?"
