- Down with Skynet! Its time for Season 2 of "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles."
As is often the case with Fox, we begin with a series recap. Following that we step right into a slow-mo scene which begins with Cameron waking up from the car explosion which ended Season 1. John and Sarah are grabbed by Sarkissian and a giant bald sidekick as they try and exit the house.
Cameron pulls a massive chuck of automotive shrapnel from the back of her head and we see through her eyes that her "CHIP INTEGRITY" has been "COMPROMISED." Uh-oh. Upstairs, Sarah gets slapped around by Sarkissian while John works on his restraint. Meanwhile, baldy finds the hard drive under a mattress downstairs. (Worst. Hiding place. Ever.)
Cameron enters the house and quickly dispenses with baldy, knocking over a butt-load of incendiaries and a lighter, igniting a soon-too-blow-up-the-house fire as she climbs the stairs. She opens the door and we see through TerminatorVision that Sarah and John appear to be okay while Sarkissian lies "DECEASED" on the floor behind them.
After assessing the corpse, Cameron shifts her attention to John. We see the "IDENTIFICATION: JOHN CONNOR" label, a quick shot of Cameron's face, followed by her assessment. "MISSION: TERMINATE." Apparently Cameron has turned somehow, and she raises a gun to fire at John just as she's knocked backwards by the perfectly-timed explosion from below. John and Sarah jump out a window to safety and we immediately cut to Cromartie deciding not to kill Ellison by the pool.
Charley pulls up in his ambulance in time to catch Cromartie on his way out of the complex, then helps Ellison to assess the FBI carnage left behind. Ellison is showed the body of the man whose likeness Cromartie has been using and the decision is made he will have to take the fall.
John and Sarah begin their disorganized getaway, wrecking their van in about two seconds as Cameron limps in pursuit. After hearing a call about the fire on his CB, Charley goes to Sarah's house and finds out Sarah and John are not among the two dead. Charley speaks with Derek at the scene, giving us a piece of exposition that they have been looking for The Turk, a computer program that now plays chess but will eventually destroy the world.
We next cut to mysterious businesswoman Catherine Weaver (Shirley Manson, the lead singer of Garbage), who is about to acquire The Turk for $300,000. She then ominously calls a meeting of her department heads for later that evening. Sarah and John seek sanctuary in a downtown church; Derek and Charley (now in pursuit along with Cameron) have a conversation in the ambulance where Charley assures him he is very married and just wants to make sure they are okay.
Weaver meets with her The Turk-seller, telling him that what makes the computer different is that it is disobedient. Sarah and John decide that Cameron must be destroyed, followed by Ellison officially perjuring himself and filing the inaccurate report regarding Cromartie.
Eliciting the help of the priest, Sarah and John trap Cameron by shocking her unconscious using an alarm clock and the holy water. John doesn't have the right screwdriver to get Cameron's chip out in two minutes and so they're forced to flee again. A chase ensues, and Cameron eventually flips over their stolen car in the L. A. River (sound familiar?) with one swipe of her arm.
Sarah is injured but alive, and John escapes into a garage. He struggles to hot-wire a truck, and as Cameron flings tools at him near the hood, Sarah comes barreling in driving another truck and pins Cameron to the neck between the two grills.
John now has plenty of time to remove the chip, but just before he does Cameron pleads with him that she is "fixed," crying and saying that she loves him. John does pull out the chip, and when Charley and Derek arrive they convince John that Cameron must be destroyed.
Just before setting her on fire John turns the tables on the adults, putting the chip back into Cameron's head and handing her a gun to see if she really is back to her old self. Cameron's view initially shows the same red "TERMINATE" from earlier in the show, but this time it gets quickly replaced by a "TERMINATION: OVERRIDE" message.
Cromartie surprises Ellison at Sarah's house, and the FBI agent tells Cromartie to kill him immediately if he thinks he will ever lead the terminator to Sarah. "We'll see," is Cromartie's reply.
During Weaver's department head meeting she tells everybody that she will be pulling key employees from every department to work on a brand-new "Babylon" division which she says will "change the world." Sarah and Cameron have a strange conversation about faith back at the church, with Cameron telling Sarah that she should never let John bring her back if she turns bad again. Sarah apologizes to John for not being more supportive given te events of the day, wishes him happy birthday during which time John gives himself an aggressive new haircut.
To Fox's credit, the show ends with a doozey of a twist. Two of Weaver's department heads discuss the Babylon-related changes in the men's bathroom, with one muttering as he goes to the urinal "God, that bitch pisses me off." (He used the 'B' word, it's now okay for him to die.)
At that point the entire urinal begins to morph into what looks like liquid metal as Weaver slowly takes shape, standing in front of him. It appears that Weaver is a T-1000, and the show ends with her doing the index finger-extension finishing move from Judgment Day through the middle of his head.
