I am a big fan of this show, but after seeing this episode, I'm not so sure. I have mainly been catching up on the re-runs of the first 2 seasons, and haven't seen much of season 3 shows. So when I saw this one, there seems to big a change in Kate's attitude. While I always sensed some OCD/control issues with her, they become blatant in this episode. I don't know if it stems from the wear & tear of raising 8 kids - or if earlier she was trying to make a better impression and kept her attitude in check, but now cares less how she looks.
My shock stems from her attitude towards the whole cupcake outing. This is supposed to be a special day for the kids turning 4. But she is so worried about the clothes they wore, that it all becomes about "they can't get messy whatsoever, I don't want to have to deal with the cleanup and laundry hassle". My goodness, they are just 4 yrs. old. She should have put them in play clothes then and let them have fun. Then she is complaining about "edible food coloring" referring to the fondant. She is so negative - If I had been the ladies working at the bakery, I would have invited them to LEAVE. But that's just me. The ladies were very nice and patient. But Kate was acting like a prima donna diva the whole time. The poor kids will have no fun memories, just mom obsessing about cleanliness, healthy foods and order. My gosh, they didn't ask to be sextuplets. That was a choice/risk there parents took when doing the infertility.
Please find a way to let the kids have fun and be kids. If not 365 days a year, at least on their birthday!!
