During the liberation of Eindhoven Winters and Welsh are briefly seen turning their shirt collars inside out. Compton asks them what's up, and Welsh replies "Snipers", prompting Compton to also adjust his collar. They are hiding their rank insignia, to prevent German snipers from identifying them as officers. Snipers often single out officers, since killing them would cause confusion and disorganization among enemy forces. This is why in contemporary war zones and in forward operating bases (FOBs), soldiers wear either subdued or no rank insignia, and many are "no salute zones".

During the celebration at Eindhoven, the American soldiers are shocked at the group of men beating up some of the women, and cutting their hair off. When asked what they did, the reply was that they slept with the Germans. This happened in real life, as at the end of the war, women who had collaborated with the enemy, were brutalized and branded as traitors by their fellow countrymen

The Jagdpanzer (Jagdpanther) that was featured in the Battle of Nuenen, is actually a Russian T-55 tank. The tank was boarded up to make it look like a Jagdpanzer. Real Jagdpanzers were never used in the series, as a majority of them were destroyed during World War II - a handful of them still survived but were never in good running condition.
