The police officer pointed a Glock 17 at Goran Tomasic. A more accurate firearm would be the Glock 22 chambered with .40 S&W which is issued to Regular Toronto uniformed officers. The Glock 17 is used by ETF in this case, SRU officers.
Ed's case of shooting would never occur. Snipers work in pairs with a spotter checking the area and aiding the sniper for accuracy. Thus Ed would be cleared to shoot when the son is out of range.
As Ed and Kevin leave Ed's house they sing, in unison, "With constabulary duties to be done, to be done, a policeman's job is not a happy one." The actual lyric (from Gilbert and Sullivan's "The Pirates of Penzance") is, "...a policeman's LOT is not a happy one."
