First episode of the show I've watched...

...and it was actually rather entertaining. Buffoonery for sure, but it definitely knows what it is and how to keep jokes culturally relevant. This is highlighted by Liz at one point, using her parenting knowledge gained from 'The Sims' to advise Jack, who seems utterly clueless. Hilarious! The storyline with Tracy and his 'son' Donald really backs up Jack's quest to find his father very well. The appearance of Alan Alda was a welcome surprise too.

Another laugh came in the form of Liz seizing an opportunity to out-do Jenna at a photo shoot.

Overall, a good episode and I reckon I may sit down and watch some more of 30 Rock in the future. 7/10

Mamma Mia was yet another funny as well as a little touching episode of "30 Rock"
tavm10 October 2009
Warning: Spoilers
After finding out he never met his real father, Jack asks Lenny to find him. Jenna has a new catch phrase but fails to credit Liz. Tracy finds out he has a "son" who gets looks from Liz and Pete concerning his age. When Jack gets his envelope, the possibilities are narrowed down to three. Liz proposes a "Mamma Mia" theory based on the musical play and movie: Tell them they won a contest for a New York trip and a free pass to see "TGS". Arrivals are a Korean, a man with shot genitals ("looks like Speghetti-O's down there"), and a college professor (Alan Alda). After seeing a picture of Jack with Tom Delay, the professor and Jack argue and the former leaves in a huff. Oh, and since Liz wants recognition for her work, she insists on being at the photo shoot with Jenna. I'll stop there and say this was another funny episode of "30 Rock". What with Liz and Pete trying to see if Tracy knows a late '80s rap song or Liz getting all the photo attention when she agrees to pose with a rubber chicken while Jenna is ignored as a result. Now there's just one more episode to watch before the season premiere next Thursday...

Mamma Mia (#3.21)

Warning: Spoilers
Jack is trying to find his real father and Liz helps him by using the Mamma Mia scenario to find who the father is. Tracy also has a son that finds him only it seems that it is just a scam. And Liz wants to be in the magazine.

It is pretty funny how fast the real father was identified as the other two were out of question, I actually expected more funny situations about it, but I actually like how they went with it. And the ending is great!

The story of Tracy and Donald is also pretty hilarious and well developed.

Guest starring Alan Alda and Clint Chin

Warning: Spoilers
Who's your daddy? Jack finds his long-last father played by the legendary Alan Alda, who was in one of the best TV series ever, M*A*S*H. Anyway, the sublot of Tracy being a father had a bit of a twist at the end that was quite heartwarming.

It's easy to forget that 30 Rock and Aaron Sorkin's Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip debuted on NBC at the same time. Conventional wisdom was that Sorkin's powerhouse series be the one that would survive the first season, with 30 Rock being a one season wonder. But history has proved otherwise.

The Continuation of Jack's Daddy Issues!
g-bodyl24 December 2014
This is the twenty-first episode of the third season of 30 Rock and it's a very good episode, better than the previous episode. It is really funny and the cultural references are genius, especially to those regarding the Sims and the 2008 hit musical, Mamma Mia! We also get a surprise appearance in Alan Alda, Jack's biological father. Alda does a very good job in this role.

In this episode, "Mamma Mia," Jack pulls a Mamma Mia when he learns of three men who could be his possible father and he invites them to New York as winners of a TGIS contest. Meanwhile, Tracy introduces his biological son to the crew and Liz believes that Tracy is being conned by him. Finally, Jenna invites Liz to a photo shoot.

Overall, this is a very good episode and it nicely sets up the season finale. I liked all the subplots, especially Tracy's which is really funny. I did find Jack subplot's to be somewhat emotional. A very strong episode. I rate this episode 9/10.
