Michael says a watch would be nice to receive for Christmas. In Goodbye, Toby (2008), Michael gave his watch away to Toby.
All the bars mentioned by Meredith, including The Bog, Coopers, Brixx's, Kelly's, Carmen's, and Andy Gavin's, are all real Scranton Bars. Ed Helms, Angela Kinsey, and Brian Baumgartner have all visited The Bog, and Helms sat in with some local musicians there, performing on the banjo.
In this episode, Meredith's hair catches on fire and she is subsequently aggressively sprayed with a fire extinguisher by Dwight. This continues a series-long gag involving physical harm to Meredith. Other examples include, but aren't limited to, Dwight putting Meredith's head in a plastic bag while trapping a bat, Michael hitting Meredith with his car, and Pam throwing a football and hitting Meredith in the face.
Michael saying he has soft teeth ties in with Dinner Party (2008), when Michael dips his meat in wine to get it to be softer so that he can consume it.
After Meredith tastes the cocktail medley that Michael serves her, he points at the camera with "double finger guns." This is the exact same gesture that Isaac the bartender (played by Ted Lange) would do in the opening credits of every episode of The Love Boat (1977).
