Not one for the conspiracy theorists
p-griffin-84-12488119 June 2011
If you've already made your mind up that the planet has already been infiltrated by aliens and that ET was a documentary then avoid this programme at all costs. Whilst not one of the best documentaries on the subject this is eminently watchable for the honesty with which those who have seen something weird are given the opportunity to tell their stories with no interference. If anything the sceptics do make them look foolish with some of their attempted explanations, a large glowing object reported by one witness dismissed as "a poacher's lamp" on a mountain three miles away, presumably the world's dimmest poachers out with lamp of that intensity! Another witness, a copper at that, whose sighting was dismissed by the sceptic with an explanation perhaps dafter that the UFO. Not going to spoil it but the cynic's explanation certainly had me guffawing. Seasoned US Army personal mistaking a lighthouse for a UFO or meteors somehow managing to weave their way through a forest. Al that was missing was the marsh gas! The one complaint I must register is the way the episodes jump around from incident to incident, hopping back and forth and losing the train too often. Much better to examined one incident in a half or full hour programme than the disjointed way in which this was done.

A travesty!
leighuk-18 July 2008
this edition of 'britain's closest encounterts' was frankly a travesty of a programme that attempted to pass off a famous possible ufo sighting and landing in north wales in January 1974 as being 'poacher's lamps'! Totally one sided in its presentation the documentary's makers featured numerous so called 'sceptics' but not a single ufologist was included to support the view that a very significant ufo incident occurred in north wales that night.

If the one sided nature of this programme was anything to go by it alas does not augur well for the rest of the series, which is set to look at other famous examples of ufo phenomenon in the uk such as the rendlesham forest incident, the welsh triangle and warminster ufo flap.
