Excellent, as good as season 1

Highly recommend to watch this period detective series. It's as good as season 1 and the story develops very well with a riveting cliffhanger at the end. The characters and their acting are solid. The English subtitles are very good and the storyline is interesting. Our heroine's ability to speak and see the dead gives an interesting twist to this detective series. I'm still waiting for news of season 3.

I absolutely love this show. I can't wait for season 3 to come out.

The acting is phenomenal and the season 2 finale mindblowing... I could not sleep for 4 days, my mind kept thinking about what's next.

Well done to the writers, cast and crew for this awesome series.

I hope I don't need to wait for a few more years to see the next series.

Well that was a shock!

I was expecting the 2nd series to be as long as the first but it is only 25 episodes. 2nd series picks up several years after the cliff hanger of the first series. Anna has been studying medicine in Paris but returned home early to work in the local clinic with the doctor from the first series. There is a suggestion of a failed romance. She is a much more confident and emotionaly developed than in the first series, a very modern woman when Stolman appears back in town as mysteriously as when he left. The on-off relationship begins again but Anna is more mature now and is able to play Stoleman at his own game. There are developments within Anna's family which is a nice diversion and develops her mother's character which I found entertaining. Just when you think situation between them is resolved a character drops a bombshell which surley means a third series is a must.

Edit There is more! 2nd series is, in fact, 40 episodes, when I wrote my review only 25 had been released. Lots more plot twists and shocks. Looking forward to series 3 if it goes ahead.

Just finished the second season. So many twists and questions in need of answers. Add to it introduction of character that had massive impact on Russian history. Quickly with season three!

Can't wait for season 3! Bring back this exceptional detective series!

Season 2 was phenomenal with its twist and turns, but ended with so many questions. The actors just portray phenomenal characters. The writers come up with unique storylines, and their romance between our heroines is fraught with tension and underlying passion all while solving, mysterious deaths and murder. Please bring back season 3 can't wait to see the characters develop.

The costumes in the series are spot on for the late Victorian period. I see the series has won awards for their costumes. The lead actress has one awards for her acting ability. Which really shows through in this series.

I can't believe I got so involved
Ariadna2457 December 2023
I was looking for a series with people talking to ghosts and I got much more than I expected. This was godsent.

This series is phenomenal. The music, the decor, the clothes, the romance ant the overarching mistery. The characters feel real, flawed, endearing- from the leads to the townspeople. You get to care about Anna's parents, you feel amused and fond of her uncle, even the police chief is compelling.

Now to the romance- for me, this is how you do a will they won't they story. As the series progresses, even with the obstacles, the age difference, it becomes obvious that these two people deeply care about eachother. The disruptions don't feel forced, the reconciliations are beautifully paced, and the leads have good chemistry and are charming on their own. Even their quirks, flaws and the misscommunication that results from them are well crafted and believable.

The supernatural part is entertaining but downplayed. Each murder is interesting and engaging because you get the backstory, the motive, the reactions from the relatives. It's Ghost whisperer, but better, because the overarching plot is beautifully unraveled and the romance has plenty of time to develop. As a fan of good old supernatural (but more towards eerie than gory possesions), I am satisfied.

Finally, I fell in love with each and every character, which is rare. Through the course of the first season, I even grew fond of her hystrionic mother ( who suffers some character development in the second season). As a Dostoievski fan, the decor and the costumes were pure nostalgia for a time I haven't experienced (even with the historical inaccuracies and all). All I want is to find the soundtrack to this series, untill they hopefully bring us the third season.
