The tide is turning against the evil Ronald Merrick (Tim Pigott-Smith) who reveals what he's all about to the feisty but kind Sarah Layton (Geraldine James) as he explains from his viewpoint the situation concerning Hari Kumar (Ari Malik) who is still in prison, determined to prove his innocence through an interview that involves the aunt (Rachel Kempson) of the late Daphne Manners. No word on the location of her baby, but at least the actions of Merrick (now fighting the Japanese in World War II. More news reels than previous episodes, this is only slightly better than part 4 yet not as memorable as the first two. Lots of exposition to be dealt with before things get back to the high quality of the beginning of the miniseries. More characters in, other characters out, and it becomes too much of a saga although it's good to see Kempson and Peggy Ashcroft again, as well as Rosemary Leach.
