This short film was written, shot, and edited all in 3 days for the 2008 Los Angeles Film Festival BEING IT 72 Hour Film Competition. Four chosen filmmakers were required to create a short film with the theme "festival stories" within the Westwood Village area in Los Angeles using an HD camera provided by Canon.
Ginelsa's "Being Reel" was voted by the audience at a Los Angeles Film Festival event as the WINNING short of the 72 Hour Film Competition. Filmmaker Patricio Ginelsa received a new Canon HF10 Camcorder as his prize.
The original aphrodisiac in the film was supposed to be an ice cream cookie sandwich at a popular shop in the area, the filmmaker's favorite. However, permission was not granted by the owner and the crew replaced the sandwich with a generic sundae cone.
As one of the sponsors, Canon loaned an XH A1 camera for the shoot.
