Solid Installment

Warning: Spoilers
This season has been very consistent so far, I'm very much enjoying it. In episode 2, I wasn't sure if Ruth & Darlene's relationship could work, I still don't, but after this episode I think they'll be good at least for this part of season 4. It was nice to see Marty, Wendy, & Charlotte revisit Chicago. Charlotte is noticeably shaping up to be a good character, and is almost a perfect cross between her parents. Jonah continues to annoy me, but there's something sweet I enjoy about his scenes with Ruth and how much she cares for him. It's kind. I'm expecting Navarro to snap soon simply because Wendy & Marty have gotten a bit too comfortable. He needs them desperately, but I think it won't be long before he makes a drastic & violent point of being the one in charge. The creepiness of how comfortable Javi is with the Byrde family (especially Charlotte) is quite something, and I think it's just the beginning of his villain arc. This season is profoundly good so far.

Warning: Spoilers
1. The Byrds take a trip to Chicago 2. Conflict between the Darlene crew arises 3. Navarro gives guns to Miller

A bit of a slower episode but bunch of business decisions are being made by the Byrds. Looks like Charlotte is really stepping up her role as the daughter. Ozark is so hilarious at times because it deals with typical family drama but just intertwined with laundering, murder and other felonies. It is also a mix of every other famous show -- House of Cards, Breaking Bad...etc but it's blended expertly so that the result is a perfect American drama.

You don't win until I win!

Charlotte (Sofia Hublitz) steps up to show her malevolence and family contribution in the face of Jonah's defection. Ruth (Julia Garner) is back to her determined pocket-rocket best, taking grip and creating change, irrespective of others' objections.

A fine episode with the Byrdes' margins of safety ebbing and flowing, but ultimately shrinking as they juggle so many plates.

The episodes are getting better, and man the acting is so well done.

The cast of Ozark continues to remain at the forefront of the show. Many characters make several moves throughout this episode and it's a welcoming part of the story. In particular, the relationship between Wendy and Jonah is explored more as they attempt to grapple with Ben's death. Further, Wendy seems to be taking more to her motherly instincts as well and wants to help Jonah and Charlotte cope, even attempting to relate to Maya later on in the episode. However, Jonah doesn't really take and then all hell breaks lose at their home, prompting him to move his "operations" elsewhere. The cinematography also remains a standout of the show. That element is the best part of this episode, as much doesn't really happen aside from the beginning of the episode, followed by some more subplots from Season Three, however the last twenty or so minutes pick back up where the entertainment continues. Bateman brings more of his deadpan humor to a few lines as well. Linney, however, is a standout of "City on the Make" and commands her scenes. Further, the way the writing continues to interweave Maya between the Byrde family and their dilemmas is exceptional and brings a different element to the screen in terms of a cop esque figure within the story. The editing is great as well and the beginning of the episode features some nice parallel cutting that really works. While the arms shipment is found, Wendy, Charlotte and Marty enjoy a meal at a fancy restaurant with Javi. It's a weird meal with Javi flirting with Charlotte and showing her how to eat oysters; Wendy and Marty feel uncomfortable. And then, Javi gets a call during dinner about the shipment that the FBI stopped, but he keeps his cool, returns to the table, and acts normal. He toasts business. He is undoubtedly a complex character to read, which must be frustrating for the Byrde family. Otherwise, "City on the Make" is another great episode of Ozark, and this final season continues to prove its potential of topping Season Three in the best way possible.

Excellent episode !

Warning: Spoilers
Maya has a sit down with Omar Navarro, Ruth makes a big power play on Darlene, Marty actually succeeds in making Navarro give up his own nephew's operation to Maya, Erin is back in the picture, and Javier is flirting with Charlotte.

There is a lot to love with this episode. Once again, the actors are fabulous and the performances on point. Who would've thought Ruth would get over Darlene in the power ranking so quickly ? And the whole chess match between Marty, Omar, Maya and Javier is interesting, and we start to see big developments in that regard.

NOT SINCE BREAKING BAD AS A SHOW PUCKERED BUTTHOLES QUITE LIKE THIS
tylermatthew-3974226 January 2022
I mean what else can I say? I'm only 3 episodes in and it's really impressive how they've managed to seamlessly transition from the goings on in season 3 to this season all while simultaneously setting up and launching this seasons storyline. For a show like this to be in it's 4th season and still manage to remain unpredictable is very impressive. Most shows can't pull this off throughout it's entire run. Season 4 is so far as good as season 3, actually the intensity has kicked off to a much harder and quicker start than any season had, since the first.

Don't mess with Charlotte
rich-fouts25 March 2022
Amazing episode and fun to watch Charlotte's character arc, and how she has taken a hard right turn straight into the family business. She meets with Erin in Chicago to tell her face-to-face that Mommie Dearest is dead. When Erin alludes that she might not keep quiet Charlette responds with the episode's best line, "Just because we didn't have anything to do with your mom, doesn't mean we're not capable if we don't have any other choice."

It's quite enjoyable

Warning: Spoilers
The only problem is the lack of a charismatic cartel like Gustavo Fring. Omar doesn't look intimidating at all.

Other than that, Jonah is the odd one out but Charlotte turned out just like her parents. She threatened Helen's daughter and I don't get why they told her that her mother's dead. Ruth want to get back at Marty more than being successful and she's making money already and Darlene is glad that she's working with her.

This Episode begins with Marty, he takes care of Wilson. Maya is on her way to Navarro. Maya leaves the meeting after a couple of minutes. Jonah leaves and moves his launder stuff to Ruth's place. Charlotte has a meeting with Erin, Erin wants to know where her mother is. Maya intercepted Javi's transport. Nice Episode of Ozark Season 4, just another good episode!

Some intense moments here, but you just get the feeling that we've seen everything done better that Ozark tries to give us. You didn't really feel the fear from the FBI agent you should have.

Not as good as people make it out to be

Warning: Spoilers
The parts where the Byrds try to go legit are just plain BORING. The episodes are ridiculously long and don't justify the length.

The family is so unlikable they make one to cheer for their demise.

Warning: Spoilers
I really really hate Jonah. That kid needs put down. What the heck is Marty even doing in this series right now? He's doing absolutely nothing other than allowing his 14 y/o son to do whatever he wants over the objections of Wendy.

The turgid mess continues
terrylarosa28 January 2022
What people still like about this tedious slog I've no idea. Immensely unlikable characters, boring dialogue, stupid tense music for scenes that have not one iota of tenseness. Seasons 1 and 2 were great but the last 2 seasons have been utter trash. Just suffering till the end which can't come fast enough.
