Why did she lie??
FilmBrat10522 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
First of all, I think Marty Byrde just might be the most passive-aggressive protagonist in history (and I love it). The past couple of episodes I've fluctuated back and forth between thinking Ruth & Darlene will become better acquainted or bitter rivals. This episode has returned me to my original theory that Ruth will have to put Darlene down. The only problem with Ruth is she never seems to learn any lessons because she rarely SUFFERS any consequences (despite dealing with hardships, she doesn't face very many punishments). It's interesting to see how much of a mental threat the new Sheriff is, and I'm curious to where her story will end up (I'm guessing dead). I'm a bit worried about Maya, especially after Javi saw her on the footage. Maya having a newborn also doesn't help her case, it just automatically makes her feel like a bigger target. Javi is going to have to die, with his deep-digging into Maya, it could potentially expose Navarro. The Ruth & Marty scene at the end was probably my favorite in this episode and it really wrapped the episode up nicely. It felt needed. Just those two. "Why did she lie about Ben?". Such an important question. Despite Wendy being my favorite character, she has become even more deceiving than before. I know she's playing by cartel rules, but lying about and exploiting her brother's death ("disappearance") is slightly mind-blowing to me. What a wonderfully complicated character. I just hope it doesn't get her killed.

Another Marty Byrd Scheme
dannylee-7808222 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
1. Ruth and Wyatt bury a body 2. Javi is suspicious 3. Ruth and Marty have a beer.

Let's count the things that the Byrds have on their plate. Rebelling son, having to fundraise using Cartel connection, preventing an inner conflict within the Cartel, working with an FBI agent to exonerate a Cartel leader, running multiple businesses, snooping PI, crazy killer lady... I would have not withstood the pressure if I were them. That's why we love these characters so much because they give us satisfaction -- they handle matters that are difficult to imagine in very creative ways and get themselves out of trouble. Episode 4 shapes up a potential conflict where Javi is becoming more aware of Agent Miller's role and Navarro's plan. And Ruth is becoming more disillusioned about working with Darlene. What choices will our beloved characters make?

No more deliveries!

Fabulous turmoil of events, the situation is ever more complicated for Marty and Wendy as they fall into more crosshairs. Javi and the PI each tug different threads as the Byrdes try to keep from unravelling.

This show is cranking out one excellent episode after another, more addictive than Ruth's heroin!

On the calmer side
tristan_1923 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This episode is pretty good. Not my favorite, but it definitely has some interesting elements. Wendy's father is introduced and Wendy is cold as ice with everything concerning Ben. I have the feeling she is trying to bury stuff and I feel sad for her, but at the same time I can totally understand why Ruth and Darlene would feel upset. The lie is pretty messed up.

One of my favorite scenes in this episode involves Wyatt breaking down and Ruth comforting him. It is really touching. We also get the set up at the end for what's to come so the Byrdes could keep their engagement with Clare. All in all, builder episode.

Netflix has the best directing and acting around.

Warning: Spoilers
The cast of Ozark continues to impress as the final season moves along; this episode paces nicely with the characters carrying the episode as it progresses. Wendy seems determined to keep the Byrde Family Foundation as high as possible, even going so far as to lie about Ben. Now, she has to play this balancing act between the things she reveals publicly and what she chooses to reveal to Jonah (Skylar Gaertner) and Charlotte (Sofia Hublitz). It seems that Ben's death may factor more into the overall story of Season Four as the series progresses. Marty attempts to get a clearer picture from Wendy, but she dismisses it altogether. Ruth goes on her own adventure with Kerry at the Missouri Belle but things go sideways. It also seems like Marty might be over most of Ruth's craziness and might go back into business with her. She ends up taking care of some business issues with Wyatt (Charlie Tahan) and they silently bond over the experience in the end. The writing is exceptional as well, and this season of Ozark features some of the best character moments. The music played throughout the episodes in this season so far is fantastic. It keeps you entertained along with the scene's other elements. Episode Three's ending featured a song by the legendary MC Killer Mike, while this episode's ending features a song by 21 Savage. Overall, you should continue to tune in to the Byrde family drama this season. "Ace Deuce" continues the dynamic from Episode Three and is just another great episode of the show. It seems that the producers are doing their best at attempting to put a bow on Ozark. So far, the end of every episode has done a nice job at setting up the anticipation of the next, and that's another great aspect about the show.

The nephew keeps creating problems for the Byrds
gedikreverdi22 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The nephew is hitting on Charlotte. Ruth finds a dumb manager for her motel and he's the former owner of the funeral house. Kerry O. D.s at the casino and Ruth saved him. Darlene killed a man and that's when I felt like we're getting started finally. Ruth and Marty might be business partners back again and that conversation between Marty and Ruth by the goat box is the highlight of the episode.

It Is All About Drugs
ZegMaarJus5 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This Episode begins with Wendy, she gives a speech about rehab clinics. The Byrde family is going to work together with Shaw. Kerry fell from the stairs, he took a overdose of heroine. Darlene shot the taxi driver to death. Marty wants to buy Ruth's heroine stash. Nice Episode of Ozark Season 4, Marty is on a wrong path now. He wants to get drugs from Ruth, to give that to Javi.

Ca plane pour moi
lvozar30 January 2022
(Title of song for other reviewer.) Episode is a lot of setup, will be interesting to see how things play out with Wendy increasingly just trying to cause more trouble for others while Marty is ever much the prefer things quiet, passive-aggressive one. You wonder if there will be a final decision that he will be forced into of Ruth vs Wendy. Episode is a liitle over-the-top both with the "high-rollers" and the overdose, but they were clearly there to set events in motion. Not sure where they're going with the PI, but didn't feel needed at this point, also just mimics investigations of the sheriff.

Very sloppy...
mrchrishain1 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
1) Darlene is such a poorly drawn character. Constantly used to escalate with no setup or transition. Shooting the driver was barely rational, poorly set up, and the explanation ridiculous. But much worse was her spouting off about Wendy lying about Ben's drug use. She had no insight into Ben, nor did she have any legitimate motivation for mentioning it to Ruth. It was an efficient technique for bringing it front of mind to Ruth, but there were many other ways that would have had some emotional truth. This had none.

2) Wendy's characterization is also poorly done. She seems to constantly be used simply as an anatagonist to Marty without much explanation of her own motivations. She's another jumping conflict machine.

Disappointing.

Ace Deuce
bobcobb30129 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Nothing bad about this episode, but considering this is a short season we don't need filler installments like this.

Nothing edgy about the overdose either. We've seen the show go much darker than this.
